Have always owned Crown Victoria's they are great never had a problem with any i have owned and i get 30 plus with it all the time but i only do highway driving and its a V8 big 4 door sedan. My tow vehicle is a 1975 F-350 XLT but it only get 12 MPH lol but it is a real big block Ford.

Chrysler here made a Charger in the 70s-the hot E49 or E38 had 265ci hemi six with triple carbs, hi lift cam etc,,,,, had over 300hp.

Pontiac also had an overhead cam slant 6. I remember a company whos name was 6=8, (now Clifford Performance) and they specialize in 6 cylinder hop-up parts. The Pontiac had a rep for blowing head gaskets, IIRC. Clifford URL is http://www.cliffordperformance.net/

Honda Accords and Toyota Camrys are always a very good choice in the reliability department. They're even better if you can find one with a manual transmission. The automatics are usually good for 200K miles.

I got a Neon for free last year and I put $1500 in it. It's a good car and gets 30 mpg.

293k miles on an '84 Honda CRX, here. Replaced the manual tranny for $100 at 250k miles. I still get 42+ mpg on the freeway. Normal maintenance otherwise. I'd go with a Honda any day. I'd stick with stick models though; I've seen a few automatics with problems.

Now we're talking my language! Look at the OHC Pontiac inline 6 in the bottom right picture with a supercharger!

Or the 6 Weber carbs!

Watch Out

Watch out for the V6 Camry from I think it was 99 to 02, they have a tendancy to have the oil gel up in them and bake the engine. Yes, this is from personal experience and even though they know thye have the problem, they settled otu of court on a "class action" law suit to which I was an unknowing party, and now that my 99 with 158,000 miles needs a new engine, they tell me it was diagnosed three months past eight years since in service so they wont do anything. Even though it had been to a Toyota dealer three or four times int he past two years for a CEL they could not diagnose and that is one of the symptoms listed. Look up Toyota and "oil gel" and you can find the law suit which specifies the years.

Anyway, stay away from those. We had an 88 Corrola stick that we sold at 220,000 that ran perfect.
