Did my first toy run ever today. Was about 38ยบ when I took off to Target to buy a toy and head to the starting point.

The Salvation Army had coffee and cider, now I know how they got their name. and there were probably 2000 bikes there. I met the original owner of my bike, and had a good chat with him.

When the ride finally started, I couldn't even hear my XS in the rumble of all those Harleys. It was amazing, so loud it was hard to breathe. About 1/2 mile into the ride, a train decided to block traffic for 45 minutes. Imagine being in a crowd of 2000 harley riders already jealous of my XS and having to sit and wait on a train to change cars around. I learned a few new cuss words today.

All in all it was fun, and didn't snow, although I thought it would.

    Pics to come....

I also have been on a few Toy Runs. Every time I went on one I was hugely outnumbered by Harley riders. They always treated me great and I never had anything but fun with them. Other days, I have not been so comfortable around larger groups of Harley owners. The "Toy Run" always seems to bring out the best in folks. Glad to hear you had a fun time and had the chance to participate in such a worthy cause.

      Hi Ivan,
I have done several toy runs in Saskatoon. Ours is not a big city so it's bikes by the hundred rather than by the thousand and the run is in mid-September to avoid being snowed on. Not a total guarantee, this September the rainstorm turned into a hailstorm for a mile or so. The rain didn't start until the ride was rolling and as I was too stupid to put the rainsuit on beforehand it stayed nice & dry in my saddlebag while my arse got kinda soaked. I really felt for the Harley guys in their leather jackets and chaps. There's an area that chaps just don't cover they really need to and that really don't need evaporative cooling. But I have to admit, rolling along in a parade of hundreds of bikes gives me an idea of how the Stormtroopers felt as they marched into Paris.

I can imagine about the chaps. I suppose the shrinkage factor would be high on days like that. hehe.
