I was hoping I wasn't the only one thinking that... The Big Bopper and Richie Vallens too.

            >>It was Friday, Nov 22 1963 @1230pm. I was 7 years old in the first grade. We were probably at lunch time recess when it occurred.<<

Me too. All I remember was my mom being sad that afternoon. I didn't really understand why.

As for having "special" days associated with bad memories... my husband died on April Fool's Day. Having everyone playing jokes and laughing on that day is kind of strange to me now.

Okay tried four times to post a sincere reply. Witty when not necessary, lost it all four times so heres the short. I bow to you. I'm sorry to hear of your loss on such a day. It must be hard, cause sometimes practical jokes can go over the edge and crash into the private spaces of others.

                Who has it worse?

                >>I always say if you think you got it bad, all you have to do is listen to other peoples situation.<< How True. I have many friends who have suffered more than I.

Thank you for your kind words Dan. Losing someone you love is never easy, no matter what day it happens to be. For me, the fact that it's a date that just about everyone in this country acknowledges with mirth makes it hard to ignore. My late husband, being a great fan of the absurd, would have appreciated the irony of his departure on this day.

This veered pretty far off topic and has little to do with JFK's assassination. Sorry 'bout that!

Meri, I agree with you. As stated it wasn't a post about politics or who has it worse and such, but just "where were you". Well Walter always said "and you were there" in the history segments he narated. I was 7 years old at recess in the first grade. My story and sticking to it. Any thread can go south real easy. It's like a wispered statement, the farther down it gets, the more imbellished it becomes. I guess I said too much and opened it up. Any of the facts surrounding where you were when Kennedy was shot or learned of it can be a source of listening to the other person and gain from it or not. Not that anything I have to say is important, just how am I supposed to burn up precious hard drive space and get my post count up anyway?

I'd propose a different question. What were you RIDING when Kennedy was killed. I was riding a red Schwinn, stingray handle bars, Bannana seat. PM's welcome

                    I am Canadian, but...

I was 11years old, Our teacher brought a radio to the classroom to listen to the news updates. The girls were crying and we all sat in stunned silence. We were dismissed early and I remember thinking there was going to be a war. I thought for sure the Russians had shot the president. President Kennedy was respected and loved internationally. A man of great courage and vision that made a difference. Most of the world mourned his passing.
