  • Question about e-bay

Ok, I use ebay all the time, browsing, biding, buying, ect but I've never sold anything on it, just because I prefer to sell locally or to people via community sites like ours. I do a search about once a week for XS stuff and if I see something I've been looking for I'll watch it so I can get an idea of the "going" price. I will also watch whole bikes occasionally even if I'm not interested in buying it just because I think its fun to see what a bike might sell for.

Today I was browsing and came upon this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Yamah...Q5fmotorcycles

Now can someone please explain to me how "watching" an item ruins it for the people who are serious about ebay. And also what exactlly does it mean to be serious about ebay? Personally if I was thinking about buying the bike the wording in the add would turn me off to that buyer.

PS. if you the seller is a member here I'm not trying to pick a fight or anything, just wondering if I'm breaking some kind of e-bay etiquette.

    Bull$h!+

I have no intention of buying so I clicked on watch this item just to piss this @$$hole off.I think this guy is irked that people are watching but not buying...there isnt a thing he can do abt it...and I agree this is BS.It in no way affects those who ae serious in any way shape,or form.People who express such negativism rarely get my bid...wouldnt buy from him...something is not right abt the whole attitude...I feel like acting like aserious bidder and then contacting him to tell him what an A-hole he is and because of that turned me off altogether...more so than anyone who is just watching.I too watch things all the time to see like you what they're worth and what they actually go for

Well I just sent this guy a not so nice message telling him basically that he has no right to dictate what others can and cant do..and that his attitude turned away my interest in buying it.and will most likely turn off any potential buyers. In all the time I have been on ebay I have never heard of such nonsense...I'll let you know if he responds in kind...yeah right!

Thing is, nice bikes are sometimes owned by someone best described as "A bit of a wanker." That said, all a potential buyer should care about is if the bike is in good shape, if the seller has a clear title and that you make sure you get the bike when you pay the money. Now my own ignorance may be showing here but that bike looks like a Midnight Special although it is not advertised as such. Did the MNS have rectangular gauges or were they put on afterwards? If those gauges are a retrofit how does the thermistor fuel gauge sender in the Special tank talk to the fuel gauge in the Standard instrument?

What a wanker! I live a half hour from this cat and I don't think I would walk across the street to buy this beast...unless it was free. to he!! with him and his bike, I could build a better one with my eyes shut! (those of you who have actually seen my bike can start laughing histerically now). All I got, have a nice day and ride safe

                        Well two things so far,
                        1. I'm glad I'm not the only one with a playground mentality of well if he doesn't want me to watch it then I'm going to watch it just to spite him! I added it to my watch list before I posted here.
                        2. Understanding that some people are "wankers" if they want to sell something they should at least try to get along with the general population for their own benefit. A lot of my friends never fail to remind me that I'm an A** hole and yet I some how manage not to offend people that are potentially going to give me money.

It on my watch list. I would bid $1500.01 but with my luck I would win it and have to figure out how to live on it.

Would be nice if he were a member here... and started complaining about this thread.
Would be much easier for me to laugh at him if I knew who he was.

                            I'm watchin' it too, now.

Anyone who knows what they're doing on ebay knows that the # of watchers are only visible to the seller, not the general public. Couldn't possibly have any outcome on the bid. The general public can see the number of times the bid was viewed, the more views the more likely the price will be driven UP. So what's his point, he wants the price to stay low? This guy is an idiot.

                              I'm watching the auction, too!
