    All Hail New Guru...
    EGSOLS!

I'd been watching his posts climb for a while... waiting for this day.
They'd climb, and then stop. Climb and stop.
I'd prepared to welcome him into Guru-land... and then he'd disappear for a few days.
Hard man to keep track of. (This new format isn't as friendly when it comes to tracking posts as the old one was)
So now, after a quick flurry of posts... he managed to sneak in under my radar. (There's even a few members who've congratulated him already on his "Guru-ship"... prior to the official proclaimation)
    Be that as it may....

XS11.com now proudly (officially) belatedly presents to all members....
    GURU EGSOLS!

Any words of wisdom for us, EGSOLS?

Wow, I never thought I would get to this point by just rambling. As for words of wisdom, I am still learning everyday. My first ride on an XS was almost three decades ago and as many can attest to, the grin is still there. 20 years ago I managed to get my hands on my very own SF. I rebuilt the brakes, the carbs, replaced second and fifth gear and a couple of shift forks, etc. All I had back then was a Haynes manual and a never give up attitude. Yes I was young and oft referred to as foolish. (Now I'm just older) I can't imagine how much smoother the rebuild would have gone had this site been around.

Anyways, life goes on and in 1994 I parked the gal thinking I would be riding again soon. Alas, one year passed and I looked at her and said "I better get those carbs off and clean them or at least drain the fuel". Another year passed and I thought, hmmm maybe THIS winter I'll clean her up and get her ready for the spring. Well, not one to normally procrastinate, the poor SF sat in her corner of the garage until early last year. Only 13 years

I got to thinking about bringing her back to her former glory and got on the old interweb to do some searching about parts availabilities. Lo and behold I found this cornocopia of info. I boasted to SWMBO about how there is web site solely devoted to the 11's. The seed was planted. I started searching for parts and by blind luck was told by my bank manager, who is a member of the Canadian Vintage Motorcycle Assoc, about a buddy of his with a SF he wanted to find a good home for. He made me promise that I would look at it since the owner wouldn't sell to him fearing that it would just be polished and flipped.

To make a short story long, I bought that SF and borrowing a few parts of my first one, I now have a 29 year bike I am proud of. (and hopefully a second in a few years) What I am trying to say, is that by finding this site I gained the inspiration to get another 11 back on the road. I can't even begin to measure the amount of knoweldge I have gained by being a member of this site. Any words of wisdom I may have, would pale in comparison to those contained within these virtual walls.

To all who have contributed, I thank you, and humbly accept my new status, albiet somewhat undeserving thereof.

As for words of wisdom...maybe ``xs11.com seek and you shall find``

Fluff? I have no fluff. I remove my fluff nightly before I retire.

Congratulations Ernie! It takes a lot of time dedicated to the site to read and post enough replies to be Guru status. I for one thank you for your perseverance and of course for all your input. Thanks
