  • Sold my bike to Bigray03

Long story short I needed to sell my bike to finance a 10 year anniversary vacation. Things worked themselves out and my bike now has a new owner. Received a text message that the ride back from Texas to Louisiana went fine and both new owner and the bike are happy. Bigray03 is a new member to the board and I'm sure will be relying on you guys to help him keep that old beast on the road just as you all have for me. He also has plans for the bike, but I'd rather let him explain that concept.

Thanks Bigray03 for an easy transaction and for helping me keep the vacation a secret and working around my wife not being home when we made the deal. I'm hoping now that I can make it till christmas before surprising her with the anniversary trip.

The community here has been the best resource (followed closely by my clymers manual) for getting that bike running again. Thanks guys and be sure to welcome Bigray03 into the XS11 club.

    Here's some pics:

Can't find the After pic right now. It was taken in front of a tank at the VFW. I'll post it up later.

Everything i thought it would be!!!!!!

Robert, the bike is superb!!!!! Thanks for the honesty of the bike through this process. And, thank you for the trust of letting me really test drive it out before purchase. I really, really, really will enjoy the fine fine machine. Oh, yeah, you were really gonna screw me on the best part of the trip by meeting me in Beaumont. ha. Beautiful riding area until Beaumont, then bumper to bumper I-10 the rest of the way. All I can say about these bikes after finally putting my ass on the seat of one is I absoluty see why so many of you are so in love with them. It's like a no-brainer for me now. It was a pleasure Robert, Thanks. Come on now you all, lets not start with the bobber bashing again you guys. LOL... Well oficially hello xs clan!!!!

        Here's the after pic:

I thought I'd give it a backdrop deserving of it's reputation.

No tellin' what it'll look like soon though, right BigRay? On that problem with the signals and tach, post it in the forum and get started meeting members. That's what I'd be doing right now. (especially considering you've now got my Clymers and CD)

            Hey BigRay,

Congrats on your recent acquisition, sorry ManShack let it go, but to each his own!

Don't worry about the comments you'll get here regarding what you do to your machine, because it's NOW YOUR machine! Whether you Trike it, Bob it, etc., whatever makes it YOUR bike is all up to you. Most of us are just thankful that the bike is being kept RUNNING, not being parted out on eBay!

Like Manshack did, you definitely need to take before and after photos to show here....we like photos!!

Hey TopCat, I guess I'm on the XS11 catch and release program. I'll get another one someday. In fact, I know of one 78 standard in distress at the moment that's being neglected.......the saga continues.

                Once again, AWSOME machine..

Thanks TopCat for the greet.. I'm sure you guys will be hearing from me with many questions and concerns of what the hell to do. LOL. This bike gave me a funner better riding experence than any newer bike I have ever ridden. That goes for cruiser or crotchrocket. Just simply a fine machine. And TopCat don't you worry as long as I have anything to do with it, this one will never be parted out on ebay or parked up in a barn. But for what it's worth, i'm glad that some do just part out. It gives life to the ones still cared about ay.

                  Good luck with the vacation.

                  Hi Manshack,
I did that back in 1984. Sold my bike to take my wife on a vacation to England.
Shortly thereafter she walked out on me. No bike, no wife and half my stuff gone with her. I wish you better luck than that.

A recent post on the "old" Yahoo Plus2 List was about a guy on ebay who was wanting to trade a new diamond ring worth about $13K for a motorcycle. He bought the ring for an anniversary gift, just to have his wife hit him with a DIVORCE!

Manshack, have a great time, and hope you get another bike soon, since it's the second most Xciting thing to put between your legs!

                          She's fixed back right.

Manshack, found some exposed wires and a blown fuse which I suppose was the root of some instruments out. Can anyone out there help me out with shocks? Want 10" rear shocks that will fit up to an 80 special.

                            selling is bad karma

                            Hi Manshack,
Some years after selling my Triumph to finance a vacation and ending up divorced, my daughter needed tuition money so I sold my BMW R90 to raise the wind. Bike gone, money gone, daughter drops out. That was 20 years ago and I have since forgiven her but I'll never let her forget about it. So sell your bike to get a better or just a different bike by all means; I have done that more than 50 times over the last half-century to end up with 3 that I really like. Not to whine but to point out that I have found selling bikes to raise cash brings bad results.
