  • One in a million chance...

A buddy of mine stopped over yesterday and we got to talking about this 1970 Suzuki T500 he had when we were down in Dallas back in 1985. I just happened to jump on Craigslist to see if there were any still out there. I'll be darned if there wasn't one in the Dallas area. When he saw the picture he about freaked. It was the exact same color. What really shocked him was that the bike had yellow rear blinker lights! The 1970 T500's came with red rear blinker lights and he changed them to yellow on his bike. He said when he bought the bike that it had compression and was getting fuel and when he checked the coil wires they were disconnected. He spliced them together and it fired right up. The bike on Craigslist is posted same thing... kicks over and has compression. I emailed the guy and he said it could very well be his bike. I told him to check and see if the spliced coil wires were corroded and I'm waiting for him to get back with me...

What are the chances of him finding a bike he owned 23 yrs ago just out of the blue posted on craigslist like that???

There ain't too many T500's around anymore.

Back when I puttering around on a Suzuki 100, I longed for a T500.(Course I wanted a Kaw Mach 1 to, good thing I never got one, I most likely would have been a first generation zip-splat.)) I see em on craig list and ebay every once in a while. Finding your old bike after 20+ years is pretty cool.

Now, if I could just find my old '70 Roadrunner.
    When a 10 isn't enough, get a 11. 80g Hardbagger

Yah, and I'm thinking my '57 Chevy would probably be worth a lot more now than what I let it go for back in '75. Gotta stop watching those Barret-Jackson auction shows...

Yeah, I threw it on there but I doubt I would get what I am asking. Besides I'm having so much fun on it I don't know if I could really part with it. Me and my brother rode up to Gladwin/Tawas area Sunday and the colors were spectacular! And it's suppose to be in the 60's most of this week. I just picked up some cold weather riding gear.....an HJC full face helmet, another Leather jacket with a zipout liner and sewn in neck wrap around, some black carhart bibs and am ready to go until we get ice or snow on the roads. I decided against the leather chaps or pants and opted for the bibs instead for these Michigan winters. I was zipping around town up to Bay City and back last night, nice and toasty. The leather jacket I was using, although it's a heavier leather, is nice for the summer months. I'm going back north this weekend. The colors should be really good by then. Hope to post some pics on here soon.

BTW I lived in the Crystal Falls/Iron River area for about a year up there doing some contract work in Ishpeming. The summer was awesome! The winter was something else. Us flatlanders/trolls don't see snow like that down here in the flatlands!

          Thanks!

Yes, I was looking at an 81 special down here as a winter project too! LOL The way the economy is going right now the company I work for is taking some hard hits last week and this week. Only made $500 commission last week and so far this week I've lost $750 sales commission and it's only Wednesday. This really really sucks! This is our prime time right now and it will be dead by January but it looks like it died already because of this wallstreet BS. I only work 10hrs a week but it looks like I might have to go to a 20 or 40hr work week just to stay above water! LOL

I really don't think I could part with the XJ.....
