The Republicans are to blame!!??you have got to be kidding me.Both political parties are completely out of control. No bill or law can be passed in this country without both parties tacking all
kinds of crazy garbage to them. Not to mention even the Liberal media reported during the big bailout push that the majority of US
citizens they interviewed are against giving more of our hard earned money to these crooks, yet the government is way smarter than the people it was designed to serve ,and passed it anyway. It doesnt matter who is "in control" of Congress or the Presidency.Lobbiists and big business sways all policy any more.It is almost impossible to pass the will of the people.

      Jerry-
You are right. What we need is socialism. Total control by the Government. When it comes to doing business in this country we have to defer to the Government. The people of this country have no right making business decisions on their own. We simply cannot afford to have people being responsible for their own finances..... What a crock.
Look at all of those people who ran out and bought loans they could not afford, also wound up buying the new SUV on credit. Were they thinking things could never change, just like their ARM.
Greed, plain and simple. There is a solution and it is happening right now.
This country just took a giant leap toward the Socialist utopia. God help us all

and McCain said in the debate last night that he had a plan of gov't buyouts of these bad loans and rewrite them so that these people that couldn't afford them in the first place can stay in their homes? 2%-3% adjustable subprimes??? And couldn't even afford that!!!! Oh yes and me a taxpayer that has a fixed rate of 5.25 just because I knew better than to go with an adjustable rate, and pays my mortgage on time, I'm suppose to watch the gov't do this? This is crazy! This is nuts!

I'm seriously thinking of defaulting on my loan! Maybe I'll get a bailout too!!!! LOL

I'm saying that both parties have a hand in this, responding to the post that it is the Democrats fault the things are where they are today. That is simply not true; the Democrats don't "control" congress and deregulation is part of the Republican mantra.

I am not suggesting Government is the answer; I don't support the bail out and have even less empathy with McCain's idea that people who took out loans they could not afford should get a price break on their houses and mortgage rate.

On the other hand, I do support some level of government oversight and regulation. The preable to the Constitution includes "...promote the general welfare,..." as one of its goals. This gives goverment some right to regulate financial institutions. The question, as always, is what balance to strike between free markets and government regulation. In the last 8 years the pendulum swung to far toward free market; the wish is that it not swing back to far to intervention, or socialism. However, neither party has a program that appeals to me so far. Will have to watch and see what comes out of the woodwork in the next couple weeks.

Thing is, this bailout is in strict accordance with the precepts of the New Testament. In Christ's parable of the talents He says:-
"To whom that hath shall be given. From whom that hath not shall be taken even that which he hath.

When either party has a majority in congress we can only hope for a President who is of the opposite party for some sort of balance, other wise the controling party tends to "run amuck".
