Paul, all the US XJ's are JYA10M00***, so you've basically got an XS at the last step of the evolutionary chain. interlinked brakes, bigger tank, equilized forks and YICS (yucks). a lot of places don't differenciate between the two bikes. I called one place for parts to get a clutch cable (supprisingly denniskirk) and they told me there was no such thing as a 82 xj1100. A lot of the parts are the same. You can alway's speed shift (clutchless) when excellorating, dosen't help much when starting off though
Current Rides: '82 XJ w/Jardine 4-1's, GIVI flyscreen, '97 Triumph Trophy 1200
Former Rides: '71 CB350, '78 400 Hawk, '75 CB550/4;
while in Japan: '86 KLR250, '86 VT250Z, '86 XL600R, '82 CB450(Hawk II), '96 750 Nighthawk, '96 BMW F650
So its a XJ . Up here the only way I can get parts is to specify 82 XJ ( even at the dealer)even though I have an 83(11G-000-000) .
Welcome to the XJ clan .
P.S. I could go for Royal Canadian Motorcycle Police but then I would have to leave my polar bear hitched to the snow bank .
Pretty cold here right now - looks like end of the season is upon me.
