I think the 78 Std covers must be different from the 79 Std. I put a seat from a 78 Std on my 79 Std, and the lower edges of the seat hit the covers and I can not get them on if the seat is bolted where it belongs. The 78 seat had a metal trim on the lower edge of the seat, the 79 did not.

I was told it was a diff in the seats. And the 78 and 79 covers were the same. But dont quote me.

And are you kidding me?? Do you really think that I would let a potato like that go by the wayside?? ( I did try to see if it looked like any world leaders or religious figures for ebay) but its kind of like the old thing where you couldnt photograph the "natives" cause you are stealing their soul and then they would eat the picture to get it back (Im sure that was in a tarzan episode or something). Havent had much luck with russets here in michigan, they are always kinda small so when I finally got a few real baking size taters out of that row, it was the culmination of years of work (hehe) so I had to take that spirit of the potato's into my own soul. Its bad enough I was considering parking my bike out in the garden so at some point I would sneak out there and them dang turkeys would be sitting on it, then snap a picture and add it to that honking at turkeys thread haha.. I decided they would not only be sitting but something else that sounds just like that, so I decided against it.

I have a tough time R&R'ing the side covers on my 79 with the seat on. I'd put money on it that the 78 and 79 covers are the same.

I had an 80 standard that was to screwed up to fix that I parted out a few years ago and I was disappointed that I couldn't use the one good side cover it had.

It must be nice living somewhere that you can have a garden. I have a few potted plants on the patio but it's far from gardening.

I got 1.6 acres and most of it is garden, what isnt food is stuff for animals. Corn or wildlife mix from the turkey federation (Soybean, Sorghum, Sunflower, Buckwheat and Japanese Millet). Gives the pheasants something to eat when the snow gets to deep (no joke a ton of em will just show up here when it gets like that, funny to watch em jumping to grab a cob of corn and pull it down enough to where they can munch on it).

This way I barely have to mow. (I found out the hard way not to mow all of my yard at once, its full of red and white clover and alphalpha and I have TONS of rabbits here.. If I mow it all at once the rabbits go right into the garden and clean it out.

Well, I put the 78 Std seat on the 79 Std frame, and the covers stood up about an inch on each side, preventing the hold down fasteners from engaging. If the side covers are the same, then the S C mounts on the 78 frame are lower. This is a stock 78 seat. So now I will put all the seat foam and upholstery on the 79 pan. Then everything should fit together. Oh, I LOVE to eat potatoes, raw fried.

Oh yeah!! Those are the ones

Well they fit well and the seat doesnt hit em. As you can see she is in the midst of a quadruple bypass.

I grew up in a hunting family, when I was barely old enough to walk in the woods without falling over I was 3rd in line of kids following my dad. And we all had guns. It was a lesson in safety and woodsmanship with regular stops to ask us "which way is the house from here" to instill the automatic directional sense.. (didnt stick with my sis but me and my bro have it). Then we would stop and load up and shoot some targets. Well anyway I dont really care for fish or game much (although I have had some Awesome venicin as well as blow your mind fried bluegills or walleye, or salmon from the big lake). So I dont hunt much on my own unless someone wants something killed, then its on.. In the winter, friends will stop by asking to kill a good meal of rabbits. Well Im always into that so I grab that same old .22 WRF that I had back when I was a kid in the woods and my friends always get the look on their face's like "oh crap were not gettin any today).. hahah.. Cause they know that I cant miss with that old iron..

Well I just ping em right in the head instead of all that messing around, I belive in quick and humane kill, plus then the entire animal is available for food. Got some deer living here too, Ive been watchin their tracks grow all summer, Mama has a hoof print like a camel. No kidding her track is as wide as my palm is wide and as long as my palm is wide plus my thumb. She came up into the field this summer and trumpeted at me the weirdest sound Ive ever heard.. (it could only have meant "hey human get outta that garden cause I was gonna come up there and eat your beans") She had a brisket on her like a cow. Ive never seen a doe do that. Got a pond right here next to my house too full of gills and bass. Sometimes I whip up a batch of gills and Im not even a fish eater.

Noone around here hunts the pheasant because they are so rare. DDT killed all that kinda stuff in the 70's. Somehow there is a contingent of actual native pheasants that keeps hanging on around here.. a few years ago 15 roosters at a time would be in my yard jumping up and gettin those corns when the snow got high. Luckily everyone around here realizes it and leaves them be even though its legal to hunt them.

Put and take is your main choice around here for pheasant. When I was growing up I had a golden retriever that got over 500 birds in his life. The best one was that first one that he looked at a few times and then finally picked up with one tooth and brought over to me. You never forget stuff like that.

Clark, I guess the 78 and 79 seat pans ARE the same. The 78 seat I bought on ebay IS an aftermarket item. I remembered I had a rusted out 78 pan in the attic, and it is the same as my 79 pan. I just took the aftermarket 78 foam and cover and put it on my 79 pan. Problem solved. Hope you get yours up and running soon.
