From what they said on CNN, those guys out on that freighter offshore probably had the ride of their lives!

What's amazing is that after it's made landfall the eye is still formed as much as it is???

I found out yesterday from my mom that my brother, a US Coast Guard Cox'n (boat captain) was on his way there for rescue missions. He's stationed in GA.

There were already somewhere in the midwest on some other detail when they got diverted to that direction. Not sure if they are flying or driving.

From the looks of it on all the cable news and weather stations, your bro is gonna be busy for awhile down there. Shoot, they are projecting the remenant of the storm is gonna make it all the way up here to Michigan and we've already had rain for the past two days now from a different system that's suppose to merge with Ike! This sucks! Haven't been on my bike for two days now.

LOL... Could be worse. You could live in Houston... or anywhere south of you that will likely see more rain than you guys.

Don't ya hate when you're trying to feel sorry for yourself and someone points out situations worse than yours? lol.. It doesn't make you any happier about YOUR situation.. but then also makes you feel bad that you are feeling bad about it! lol.

I do hope Ike is just an inconvenience and not deadly.
Wonder how many twisters it's going to spawn?

You are definitly right about that one! Although I have to admit I would like to ride one of those puppies out at least once. From the sounds of it, there were quit a few on Galveston Island that did just that. What sucks is we were paying $3.68 for gas last week and this morning it's $4.19

Yeah.. our gas went up just 10 cents... but with the refineries shut down, I'm wishing I had a tank in the back yard to stock up with now.

                          Gas Supplies

We had some survivalist type store about 15 55gal. drums in his garage. He also had a couple thousand rounds of ammo in his basement. Somebody called about the gas and he had the BATF, the local PD, and the Fire Department there. The local news stations had a field day with how dangerous the situation was and how everybody on the block had to be evacuated.Trbig, that might be you ticket to your 15 minutes of fame
