  • Water cooled XS11

Today I took two teddybears, a cuddly doll a model car and my wife on the Saskatoon Toy Run. Based on my experiences last year when stuck in stop & go traffic for an hour or so I was worried that a 15 mile parade in mostly 1st and sometimes 2nd gear would overheat the rig's engine. Turns out that while stop & go in 95º Montana sunshine will make the XS11 engine real toasty warm and kinda rattly, 15 miles of 1st & 2nd gear work in 42º Saskatoon in pouring rain won't bother it at all. Mind you, I could have been happier without the 3 miles or so when the rain changed to hail. Admittedly not golf ball sized hail, just split pea sized hail that rattled on my visor and bounced off my leather jacket. And yeah, all you Harley knockers out there, over half the bikes on the toy run were Harleys and the only ones wearing "colors" were the Christian Bikers.

I suppose the bright side of hail is that it doesn't leave you soaking wet.
