I usualy wave here and all the other ranchers we have the South Dakota wave LOL which consists of raising a finger off wheel or tractors. very rural here and everyone knows everyone esle just makes it a polite way of saying hello.

I do wave most of the time. There are some days that I just get tired of it.
Now that I'm a trucker I find that other truckers wave as we pass each other.
I'm a social person but I just get tired of waving to everyone.
I have considered modifying a handlebar end with a spring mounted glove to 'auto wave' for me.

a great thought. Take it a little further.
Have the glove built with little solenoids so that at your discretion it can show an open hand for "Hi there" a clenched fist for "Solidarity" or an upright middle finger for "Up yours"

I live on Whidbey Island in WA States. Every day when I go down West Beach road in a cage or on Ebaybe there are two guys that walk the road to exercise. One looks like he is in his 80's, the other his 50's. They both always wave at all vehicles as a friendly guesture. I always wave unless I'm unable to cuase I'm shifting or turning, and then it's a nod. Once in a while depending on traffic, limited sight distance, or preocupied in thought (not good to not be paying attention) I miss waving back. Makes me feel bad when I see them wave at the last minute and realize I didn't wave back. Used to make me feel bad when I waved and didn't get a wave back, but now I chaulk it up to whatever thier reason was for not waving, it aint nothing but a thing. I dont need a salute of aknowledgment to feel good about knowing I'm riding one of the greatest classic bikes ever made. IMHO.

I usually try to wave or give a head nod. But on a nice day when there are a lot of bikes about or during rush hour it gets to be a bit tedious. I will usually acknowledge a fellow rider and even initate a chat at a rest stop or gas station if I have the time. When there are so many bikes on the road, and it seems like there are so many more with today's gas prices, it starts to seem a bit silly when you're waving every ten seconds.
Here in NH it's not customary to wave across the median on a super highway but I was surprised to see this on my trip to western NY. How common is this elsewhere?
On a completely unrelated note, what's up with the custom of BMW riders always using the centerstand when they park?

This is to let you know about the parts that typically are known to fall off of the /5. Some of the items apply to other models too. My list was enlarged by many submissions of our rider friends sharing their experiences. A "one of a kind" part falling off isn't considered typical and therefore is not included.
1. Center stand bolts and springs. Both the original and Reynolds hardware can fall off. Check the fasteners often to prevent this. Check that the Reynold's Ride Off Stand springs don't "catch" on something when it is raised and lowered.
So, they do this to regularly check that their centerstand has not fallen off!

Coz beemer riders are the anal retentives of the motorcycle world, they probably read an advisory booklet on it at the dealers. I mean it's the only thing that can explain those beemer bib'n'brace outfits and the R65.

Having grown up in Buffalo, I have to say its because they're happy to know someone from out of town is spending some money to help boost the economy there.
