        I DON'T THINK SO! LOL She's a monster in person. And, here we go again.............forgone the XJ's down in Sterling Heights. Now! I am going for my first love! A 1978 XS Special. One of them there Cali bikes full dressed. First thing comin off when I get her home is that faring! But she's got all the hard bags on the back end with all the chrome and nothing rusted on this bike!

            mstic2000,
            The 1978 ONLY came as a Standard. If it has the original Pacifico fairing, try riding WITH it on before you remove it. The '78 was the fastest of the XS1100s, and that one year fairing was CLEANER through the air than the Windjammer design that followed.
            I've had BOTH types on the same bike, and I CAN tell the difference via MPG and top speed.

              okie dokie I hear XZTLY what yer sayin bout the 78's. I will TRYEE MY HARDEST and keep the faring on but man I saw these bikes without it and the hard cases on the back with all that chrome..........and thoght..........WOW!

                I donno? On the sides it's got the XS11special insignia's and the motor is I think a 78 or 79 or maybey just maybe it's an 80? full dressed? red? It's got the kicker......brand spaking new in the left trunk...........

                  ok im going out on a limb here but just kina reminds me of when I was 15-16 out there on Tri-city dragway listenin to those ol 427's with the FULL headers becuz this bike has got it all drilled out. dragsters...........NOW YOU KNOW why I got this bike.

                    Well first photo is a 920 Virago, nice bike but difinitley not an XJ... Other shots of the XJ look good, far better than my old beater.

                        BUTT!!!!............im goin thru a midlife crisis right now........... i have my EYE on a 78-79 cali special heck it might even be a 80 specail cali bike ...........but the guys were laughing at me when i went there a couple dayzzs ago so im gonna give them a chance to cool off a bit b4 i go back and pick this mofo up..............

                            I donno I'm kinda scared to drive her anymore......she sounds just like a 427 dragster sorry about the bad sound with the cheap camera........oh my my wife is bout to divorce me over her........told me last night Im outta here........?????
