  • Shields are Great

On the way home from A&W tonight around exit 19 on the 107 my windshield took a big hit from something that flew of a tractor trailer....good thing the shield was there or the instrument cluster would have been toast....now I got this "Goose egg" sized star smack in the middle of the shield...lucky for me, unlucky for my "Road chrome shield"

Shields are great, had that hit my face shield whatever it was would have destroyed it .......

I have a nice hole in my Jammer shield, from the same sort of deal.

I think mine was a rock.
Nice day, if it doesn't rain...

I wouldn't be without my jammer

Not only does it protect me from road debris, I'm too old now for the buffetting you get from the wind. Some people poo poo the idea of a full windscreen but I'll just bet they're under 30!

          Shields/ Windscreen

Shields or windscreens as there are called in some parts of the world after last night, its never coming off.....as exsilerating says could have been painfull or fatal. A shield is maybe less than a quarter inch thick but a face shield maybe half of that, and that leaves your face, yeah, ouch...

All for now Guys and Gals.......have a great summer to all my
          "Fast friends" out there.....

Ya know, now you've got me thinking.

I bought one of those small shields, the type that just deflects in front of your chest. Well, I held it up to my bike one day and all my neighbors including the 83 yr old guy next door suggested I leave it off for looks.

Me, being such a whimp, I bowed to peer pressure.

I had one on my 850 Special back in my high school days and enjoyed not having the wind or pebbles on my chest.

After reading this discussion, I may just end up tossing it on there after all. "Be a man. Make my own choices, right?"

Right. Besides, it's not your neighbours that will be deflecting wind, stones, pebbles, etc. from their chests and faces

                wind pressure

The wind pressure can be XShausting to your arms on a long haul thats the reason why I bought a shield....its only a short model with a twin arm support buts its solid at 160 kph no wavering or ossilations and as a defence shield.....well just think of yourself as a Spartan DJ in NH, and wear one....you never know when a lug nut, rock, or bird might cross your path....
