  • Thinkin' 'bout Tahoe...

Ray's "Daily ride" locked up the tranny at 80 MPH coming home from Yosemity, and he is still working on getting it fixed. Mine just turned over 100,000 miles. I suspect it has never had the timing chain replaced., and I really should take care of that, at least. Ray was the primary organizer / fearless leader of last years rally, but sez he just can't do it this year. I don't know if I can make it even if someone else organizes it.. There was some preliminary talk of having a "Mid Coast" mini rally some time this Summer, or early Fall, which I would really be into. I would love to share my stomping grounds with my brothers and sisters of XS! So.... will someone step up to organize this years Tahoe Rally? Or should we perhaps alternate doing a Tahoe Rally and a Yosemity Rally? I just want to get the dialogue started.

Old bikers never die, they're just out of sight!

My recently re-built, hopped up '79 Special caught fire and burned everything from the top of the engine up: gas tank, wiring, seat, & melted my windshield all over the front of the bike. Just bought a 1980 Special that has been non oped for 9 years. My Skoot will rise from the ashes and be re named "The Phoenix!"
    I've been riding since 1959.

    Mid coast?

I could certainly enjoy a coast rally. I'm really tired of the all day ride in the blazing hot desert to get to the rally. The cool coast would be a welcome change.

In case Ray would like to ride right now, I have a '79 with no mechanical/electrical issues, full bagger, new cam chain, valves adjusted, 150 lbs compression on all 4, 1st & 2nd gear fix done, Tkat brace, new tires & brakes. Ready to ride. Just come down here and ride it home.....

Tried to post in the classifieds, but they won't work for me....

        Rally sites

        Sorry, put in wrong area
        West coast rally sites

Hi Big Ed,,,,,,,it would be nice to have a Tahoe rally, but better yet have one on the coast. Its cooler and different kind of scenery. Central or northern California is great country and roads. There's a couple of KOA's on the coast near your area that could ease any big planning. Seems like most people camped or got the Cabins. If there is interest I could host a South California Rally. I live in North S.Diego. Only problem is its a long way for a lot of the members to ride to. So let us know what works for the masses. The beaches are great but the riding is better away from the city, typical rush hour madness. I think there would be a good turnout for a central coast rally for a different riding and scenery for the inlanders. I know LoHo mentioned a coastal rally, ride at the Yosemite rally.
Dick's bike looks super, what is the price?
So, anyway, I have three riders down for a central coast getogether from this area. Best time for us is any long vacation period since the ride up is time consuming. Spring break, early summer, etc......Hope Diver Ray gets his xs going,,,,regards, Mike in Sun Diego

          moving the thread

You're right, I should have posted this on the rally page, so that is where I'm moving it. Look for two post: one for Central Coast Rally and a repost of the Tahoe Rally thread. See yall there.
