  • Old still is FAST

just finished up the Carb Sync cam chain adjustment and valve adjustment. so i figured i would see just how fast the old Girl still is. being an X Cop has its advantages. on a nice stretch of new rd not yet open to public with a State Trooper Buddy and a radar Gun the old gal showed a true speed of 128.5 MPH not bad for a full dresser that weighs as much as a yugo lOL needless to say im still wearing that stupid grin.

Just be careful so that your friend is the only one who gets you on radar going that fast...

Thats right...closed course professional amateur do not attempt, all that good stuff.

I made a dumb run the other night. Got it outa my system, had a Harley rider tell me we were NUTS, felt the rush of adrenaline as I braked hard now and then. And now I dont have to do it again. The adult in me can return. 90+ in a 45 curvy stretch during rush hour is just plain dumb. Hindsight being what it is, I believe I'd rather putter around and let people think I'm old and slow...

        That's a good honest reading.

Radar guns are pretty acurate now days. I hope you don't make a habit of this, it's too hard to brake!
by the way, have you made any progress with you new toy the pipe bender?

          Bender

Hey jack yeah i have been playing around with the new bender im making a set of pipes for snowmobile engine i put into a Off road Buggy , i got the est mule in shop now so i will start measuring up for the 1100 pipes. i want to make 4 different sets then do Dyno pulls with each one and work from there. i have been checking into making a stock 4-2 black chrome set up since they are so rare and good as a 4-1 also in black chrome.

soon as i bend and weld up a set il will send out pics.

128 MPH!!! With a full bagger? Most excellent. Goes to prove that just cause your old dosen't mean you not fast. I have tagged the 120 mark with my 80G hardbagger a couple of times ( when you ride with the TeXSives, they make you do that ) but had to shut down due to a wicked wobble that kicks in. During a past ride, with two up and packed for a weekend, I showed 115 during a multiple car, high speed pass (the SWMBO just tucks down behind me and hangs on). The XS never fails to amaze me with the power that is on tap, even after 20 years of riding it.
            When a 10 isn't enough, get a 11. 80g Hardbagger
