Well I did the dremil fix to my tranny and unfortunately it is still slipping bad. Andreas has replacement parts for me but now have to wait til payday and shipping to start working on it to get it back running again. Talk about a depressing weekend.

    Hi DV,

If you did a half-decent job on the dogs, you probably have issues with the selectors; very common if the PO tried to hold the slipping gears "in" with his toe.

There is also a washer to be moved to give 2nd more engagement; that will probably need changed even if you change the tranny.

Did you run through the gears (engine off!) while watching through the missing oil pan to check how far the gears engaged before buttoning it all up?

Best of luck with take two!

By "SLIPPING"... I hope you don't simply mean slip instead of a feeling like you're sitting on top of a .50 cal machine gun as the dogs jump from slot to slot... BANG BANG BANG!!!

And also... just wondering if you did all the gears or just the 5th/2nd gears? This wouldn't have helped a problem you were having in first gear..

It feels like that. Jumping from slot to slot.

Sounds like maybe you cut the wrong sides of the dogs/slots? It's easy to do.. and if that's the case, you can still use what you have. A lot of people back cut both sides... and as stated, moving that washer from one side of the 2nd gear to the other will help considerably.

I am hoping to reopen the tranny and "recheck all of my cuts" and since I did not move the washer I am going to do that also.

If it is skipping in 2nd... just moving the washer won't help. Is it skipping in 1st or 2nd? Did you do all the gears?

At this point it only appears to be skipping in 2nd. 1, 3, 4, 5 all seems to be firm and strong.
