Yeah, and when you host your XSeast rally, that will be a great place to have a "Bike Rodeo". You know, the slow ride, the obstacle course, the weenie bite, etc.. Those are great fun.

It's looking great! Being into it $1300 isn't bad at all. I'm probably in mine that much and I had to do most of the work myself (by myself I mean me and the great site here).

Congratulations! What a great looking bike, you did a marvelous job and didn't have to spend a bundle! You have every right to have a grin on your face that won't come off. John, after riding it, will probably have a few new worry wrinkles on his forehead. Looking forward to seeing the paint job.

Congrats!
I know you've put a lot of your own sweat into it and its all been worth it. Enjoy the rides and that great feeling that comes along with bringing one of these bikes back to life and kicking a$$ with!!!!

More cleaning and polishing? It looks fantastic just the way it sits.
Congratulations and enjoy! Don't worry too much about the fairing and the engine heat. I don't think it keeps the motor any hotter it's just more noticeable to the rider when stopped. I had my lowers on for the rally and they really put the engine heat on you! And yes, you'll hear every little noise the engine makes with the fairing on. I've toyed with the idea of taking mine off but I really like the extra storage the fairing gives me.

One person took the fairing off and sold it only to discover that he really needed it. More than once even..... Holding yourself against the wind for a few hours on the freeway will let you enjoy your fairing.You can't stay young forever, but you can be immature for the rest of your life...

Very nice job Carolyn. Great looking ride. It's dirty? That means you haven't ridden enough, but what is enough? I can imagine the looks you'll get from the guys on there Hardly's after you dust them!
Especially if you get to tell them how old the bike is. The look on their face will be it's own reward. Have Fun!

BTW-the $1300 includes the cost of the two bikes I started with. Yep, I'm happy.
This is my first XS, my first bike of this size, the first shaft drive bike.
Wow! I am impressed with it! It's a little scary! HWMBO appreciates it too. He's been riding it around when I'm done with my practice. Brace yourselves...we may have a partial convert!OMG!
Got up to third today, any faster and I run out of road and have to slow down for a turn. I have the Motorcycle Safety Course all painted out on the ground on the next lot over, so I'll start practicing that tomorrow. Lucky for me they hold their classes next door, all that's missing is the cones(and as you can all see, I have plenty of those).
The bike has been lowered 3" yet it still handles great! Even John(HWMBO)thinks so. The way Ed-the wonder mechanic-lowered it came out beautiful.
I've heard that these bikes are difficult to handle, sluggish in the corners, etc. I disagree. Maybe it's the changes that were made, but this thing is on rails for a 30 year old bike!
Polished the aluminum and chrome-it has just enough of each to be pleasing to the eye-but didn't want to remove the 'patina'. I want people to know this is an old classic bike.
I am in love. I can't keep the smile off of my face every time I see it.

I think I'm up to around $2k on mine now. That includes the bike, parts & tools. Gotta spend more on some new brake rotors & I think I'll spring for a new seat as well.
