  • The bike is HOME!

Here she is. Mine, mine, mine!!
HWMBO rode it home, and dare I say, he has a new appreciation of the bike. He was surprised that at 3000rpm, she hits a whole other plane of performance. He found a straightaway on the way home and decided to open her up. He said he looked down and within about 2 seconds he was pushing 80! He said it surprised him a little.
He took it around back and goosed it and ended up with a decent wheelie! He's been riding for about 37 years so he knows how to make her go!
He won't admit it, but I think he likes her!
I rode it around for a while. In the background of the pics you'll see my practice area(125 paved acres w/ cones). Tomorrow I will put the good fuel tank on(that's my spare on it now)and give her a bath. It's filthy. No...really it is.
    Not too bad, eh?
Wait til the cosmetics are addressed this winter-new paint w/ graphic; new lights front and back; saddlebags; custom fiberglass on the old Vetter.
So, how'd I do? I'm into the bike(s)for $1350 complete-Thanks Bikerphil. I expect to see your smiling face tomorrow after 2 pm. Call me or I'll call you.-From the rat I started with to this. I think I did pretty well!

        Hey CarolynS,

Congrats!! But now you'll never get HWMBO to race you with his Harley, he's seen the "DARK SIDE" of the force, and respect it he must, fear it he will!!

I editted your thread to put you photos back in, you apparently moved them in Photobucket to another FOLDER, and so they weren't showing up in your recent post, hope you don't mind??

Well, you're not alone in the newly acquired and RIDING scenario, and being female as has been recently posted by Emiritus/Cam with her 78E. Practice, practice, practice!

congratulations Carolyn. When you ride with Harleys stay behind, because they will have a meltdown trying to keep up. Now your pics are not coming up.

                I don't have a video camera!
I didn't even take these pictures. HWMBO used his camera because he knows how it works...

It was cut down when I got it. We weren't sure if it was going to work. Luckily, who ever cut it had some idea of what they were doing because it comes to just below eye level. There is no wind behind it and no buffeting because the air goes right up and over the helmet. It works well, and I'm not seeing the road through a layer of plastic.
The only thing about the fairing though is that it seems to trap all the heat around the engine. I'm a little concerned that the engine is forced to run a little hot because of it. This is new to us, so the jury is still out as to whether the lower end of the fairing will be modified to allow more airflow to the motor.
A little excited...you could say that!! And I'm going to enjoy every minute of it. It's been a long time since I've had something that was just for me!!

Lookin' good, Carolyn! Take it easy in the beginning and you'll be great. The lot looks like the perfect place to practice slow maneuvers. Damn, it's big enough to host your own MSF course! Have fun, see you guys on Aug 9th.

I had a vetter on previous bikes and they're great except for the noise. They reflect a lot of engine noise up into the cockpit.

                              Aha!

John thought there was something wrong with it. I tried to tell him that it's just the way they sound.
We actually have the motorcycle safety course on the next lot over. I keep going by and grabbing more of their literature to put out for our students at the truck school. I think everyone should take that course, even if they been riding for awhile. I plan on taking it in the near future. There's always something to be learned.
The whole place is flat and paved. I'm lucky! Not many people have access to a facility like that or carte blanche to use it.
