I ride with a couple of friends that can manage to deal with a cigarette while riding. I am a pipe smoker and like most pipe smokers, also enjoy the occasional cigar. I have contemplated trying out the pipe or cigar while riding, but have never done it. Last evening, while mowing the lawn, I reached up to deflect a tree branch and the tree plucked the fire from the end of my cigar and deposited it down inside the back of my shirt collar. As I was later contemplating the acrobatics required in such a situation, I determined that while they can be accomplished from the seat of a John Deere garden tractor, they probably shouldn't be attempted at highway speed on a bike. I guess I will just continue to carry the pipe in the luggage and only break it out when I stop to admire the scenery.

I haven't had any real problems with smoking while riding. The only real issue I remember, was installing a lighter in my vetter. I took it out of one of my cars. I tightened the contacts in it so it would get extra hot. Only problem is when you do this, the lighters tend to pop out with a bit more force. First ride I go on, push in lighter to have a smoke, pops out real good and keeps going, going, going, gone.Ernie

now that's funny - expecially because I just found my old one in a forgotten box of junk in the basement. It glows in the dark man!
I wonder if I could sell it on ebay?

I haven't seen it yet but I won't be too surprised when I see some a-hole trying to ride a motorcycle and talk on a cell phone. It seems a lot of people can't do anything without a cell phone pressed to their head.

LMAO... If I am not going too fast, I have used the phone on several occasions. I just put it on speaker, tuck in behind my fairing, and I can hear OK. It's generally just short things from SWMBO.. like "Don't forget the milk" or something.. but it is do-able.
I'm not NEARLY as bad as this guy though!!!
Relaxed riding...

That is an idea Kat... If I wouldn't wear a helmet around here either... then I wouldn't have to put it on speaker!! Great idea... Thanks!!!

My neighbour got a text message on his cell from his wife. I asked him why they don't use the cells to "talk". He said she can't talk on the phone while she's working (she's a bus driver). I just don't know anything anymore...Ernie
