  • carburators on a 1980 midnight special

I have recently aquired a 1980 midnight special . I have a 1980 gl (I belive) that I was attempting to revive but I just don't have time. my question is :my midnight special runs BUT . . .sputters and misfires badly under accel . I am a auto mechanic . and am not afraid to pull them off and rebuild them . but what signs should I look for as far as damage and issues? this is my first endevor into a sweet classic rebuild (I had r6's and one ninja before I had kids) I really have been enjoying this revival but don't want to dive in over my head and cost my self too much!any help would be fantastic!

Just hang around a bit and you'll have plenty of answers.

    Good luck with it!

Check the links for Carb maintenance.

They are surprisingly easy to clean. Most times you don't need kits. These bike hate dirty carbs and it seems a little bit of dirt can cause a lot of troubles. Consider adding inline filters while you have them off.

      Good luck,
