      Backrest

I don't see any backrest. Where is it?

on the shelf. I only use it on long trips. It slides into a shaft in the seat. There is one for the driver and one for the rider, but only one backrest.

King-Queen with butt ugly grey/white hounds tooth mowhair looking cloth. PO must have had it covered with stuff he had left over from the twilight zone!!
The standard seat is stock but it looks like it is going to be like the "wonderful one horse shay". I think I am going to go out there one of these days and it will just be a pile of dust.
They are going to have to do until some of the leaves grow back on my money tree... It's looking kinda' puny these days.

nuthin' special here...both the Maxim and the XS11SH use the OEM seat. However on the Maxim seat it really is not comfortable...the angle keeps me sliding forward and its height is too low for my legs. The seat on the XS is a little tall but much more comfortable for long rides. In the Spring I'm looking at possibly getting a Sargent for the Maxim...but @ 300 bucks I'm balking 'specially since I ain't working right now...

I still have the original seat for my '79F. It's near perfect and I didn't wanna expose it to wear an tear. So I bought a spare and had a custom built. I used the same guy Bob Jones used in KC. He did a bang up job. I sent him the an OEM seat and he returned this. It is much more comfortable and provides more support. I think the mod cost me $150 plus shipping.

                      factory highback

Stock seat has been re-upholstered. Bike has 14.5 K miles. foam still good so just had it recovered at a Boat canvas shop for $150.

I tried to find someone who would recover the seat through the "internets". Best price I got was someone who would be able to "make the pattern" for $300. They were unwilling to say how much the actual sewing would be.

Finding a canvas shop around the marina was easy but I guess I got lucky cause the owner was a fellow cyclist with experience/interest in bike seat recovering.

                            seat

I'm using the stock seat but have today cut the foam to provide a bit of a bum stop - also there was a tendency to slide forward as it was (combo of Jota bars and rear sets)

I have just dropped it in to be re-covered in plain black vinyl and was quoted $100 from a local "motorcycle seat specialist" at Capalaba.

can't wait to be back on the bike - got a big Easter planned

Last Spring, I brought my seats (SH and SG) into a upholstery shop that does a lot of car seats, etc. It is located in Kittery, ME if any is interested, I can get an address/phone number.

They made them look like the original as far as I can tell.

(My SG on the left. Gary had his seat done at the same location...bike on the right)

I had to lower my seat foam so i could reach the ground, traffic lights used to be wild.
