I got your answering machine.
Let us know what's going on, ie: starter turning but engine won't fire up, starter not turning, any signs of life at all like some cough in the exhaust?
I AM NO MECHANIC! I just know the hoops I had to jump through with lots of help from people on this board when getting my XS1100SG up and running.
Good luck,

Stripped 1980 Standard Harness
I just happen to have my 1980 1100G wiring harness out of my bike and stripped to change out the fuse block and fix some old connectors.
The ignition died out on me yesterday (July 3rd) in the middle of the road and wouldn't restart or stay running when it did.
If you need any help just let me know.

Just found your other thread related to this problem...
This morning I see you are having a spark problem sometimes at first and sometimes after 1/4 mile down the road.
I've herd of the tci heating up and causing problems, so I've seen that you have done the solder trick on the terminals, on the back side of the circuit board??? Then I see that even somtimes you are having problems with spark when the plugs are pulled and cranking over, possibly when the bike and tci isn't hot.
Is the battery in real good condition?
Other older and newer bikes have a much better charging system on them (so I've herd), so if the battery is in poor condition, this may the problem. Justa thought.Flatlander

Just for those that wondered. Dan just left here with the bike I've had it since Tuesday. TCI was heating up and causing an intermittent starting problem. 3 out of 4 pick up coil wires were bad and the stock 85 speedo did not register quite right. Swapped in a known good TCI and did the coil wire fix and swapped in a 140 speedo.
Damn nice bike and the exhaust system on it is killer. not sure what it was but it's bad ass.I hate signatures. Too many cars and Bikes to list here.
