  • Talk about Bummed Out

Took a trip to town today to wash my bike. When I got there I found I had lost my right side cover. I live in the country. Fields and woods on ether side of the road. I did the slow ride a couple of times to see if I could spot it. I had opened it up a couple of times. If it left doing over 100, I am sure it is sitting some where in the next county. Wouldn't be so bad except the wife and I are doing some day trips the next several days. I wanted the TimeMachine to look her best. Oh Well @@##!!&*$#@

That sucks .But on the bright side its probably easier to get a right side cover than left since the left ones seem to break the locking tab off.Check ebay there are usually a couple of those there.

        Side Covers

That is why i am going to run a cable from one side to the other side cover to keep one of them from blowing off. Just have to take off the seat then both covers at the same time. Side covers for the Specials are like hens teeth to find. Or make them bolt on like the XJ's.
        Thanks Tom

I just posted in other bikes about wiring on side covers on my wifes Virago. I lost them both on her. I am gonna use wire fishing leader and some good epoxy on the cover.

I wonder if you also need to replace those rubber mounts. Are your's old and cracked? While hunting around for a replacelment side cover, if you need the mounts, I see them on ebay often.

                  I have a cover

                  DenyP:

Sometime soon I plan to fabricate my own diamond plate side covers, which will negate the need for mine. I only have the right side. It's primed and painted aluminum with no badge. If you dont have a replacement when I do this, Id be happy to ship it your way.

I got a good replacement here:

I guess they would ship to you if they still have any in stock.

Thanks guys! Andreas has one. I am sending off the check today.
My main fuse holder in the fuse box broke the other day. I had performed a temerary repair. I figure the taped bundle must have kept the cover from snapping firmally in place. TC is sending me a replacement fuse block. I will have this all squared away b/4 I replace the cover.
