  • 4 to 1 exh. and Pod filters

I have kept the stock pipes (new mufflers) and airbox. Are there major peformance gains going to Pod filters and 4 to 1 pipes?

with the 4-1 pipe you will see gains in the higher rpm's

pod filters just flow a heck ofalot better than the stock air box...

my awnser is YES!! i noticed a diffrence

      I have a 4-1 and pods. I'm a little sluggish in the low rev's, but once I clear 4K it's a white knuckle ride!

Its a matter of opinion and the definition o major performance gains. Pods & 4-1's will definately open up the higher RPM range but you will suffer on the bottom end unless you make other adjustments. Some will argue that the stock arrangement is better and if you want to keep that low end torque grunt then that is true. But like I said, you have to define in your mind what you want.

I run pods and 4-1 header and have up jetted to 142.5 main jets and 42.5 pilot jets. With this combination (and a good tuneup) the power band rose from about 2800-3000 RPM to just a bit over 3500 RPM. Below 3500 it was lackluster at best but as soon as 3500 hits you better be holding on and it pulled like a bear through the redline with the front wheel just skimming the ground all the way. Since I wanted the streetability back like stock I put in some slotted cam sprockets and adjusted the cams 4 degrees advanced. This turns on the power band at 3000 RPM and the torque too but it flattens out at about 115 MPH. Since I rarely go over 100 this is a perfect fit for me.

So, it is all just a matter of taste.

          pods

if you mount the pods to the removed from air box velocity stacks you retain alot
          of lowend.
