what a good nite it was took SWMBO out to Dinner and then we were going for a ride in the hills . as we pulled up to resteraunt where my daughter works i backed in along side 5 Harleys. we went in had a great dinner . we walked out with helmets in had and there were 4 people standing by the bikes, first thing they asked was what are you riding i said the yamaha. They sid great we are waiting for our table and ws hoping the owner would come out before we went in they went on teling me how one had a brand new 78 and loved it the other guy has a friend with 2 one with a hack. we talked till they get buzzed for their table. all the while the new Harley owners were windering if i had put a spell on these folks. AHHH Classix style a great bike will always be appreciated. luckily my head was able to still fit in my helmet. and off we went a great nite 65 degrees rode up past the dead presidents. all and all a great evening.

That is one of the funnest thing about riding an XS for me. I can pull into a crowd of riders standing around their new bikes and as I am pulling the kick stand down, the crowd starts to form around my XS. I can pull into any bike dealer and at least one person will comment on the XS. I have had people wait for me to return to it, come from the other side of the parking lot and even follow me to where I was going. Even with all the modifications I have done, they still recognize the XS. And it is not just people my age (50+), young riders are making just as much fuss about the XS. I love it!

It ain't the bike.......It's the saddle bags!

One of my earlier riding trips to....can't remember......, we (DAD and I) stopped at a pizza joint in the mountains of.......can't remember.......While finishing dinner we had noticed that there was a couple of guys and a kid standing around our bikes ('81h and '74 Eldarado/California). Went outside to have a chat and hit the road. They wanted nothing to do with the bikes we were riding,(surprised)! This is were it got a little weird for me......They said "Well get it out" and pointed at our saddle bags..... I said "Get what out"....They said "you know....We can see your from Michigan,.....so get it out". I said "I have no idea, what you are talking about". Then they said "We (two guys and a kid) know you have boooze in those saddle bags, so get it out and share some!" I started laughing and (got a little weider at this point) they didn't! We had to open the hatches to prove to them at this point we had none, just to get them far enough away from us, and they just left at that point! Very confused I asked DAD what the heck was that all about.......He said just before hitting the start button.....It's a dry county and rode off!

Yes Denny but your XS11 is a work of art.

My 79 standard is a rat but it still gets a few positive comments.

BTW, how is the coating on your headers holding up. I have to do something with mine soon.

When i was at that car/bike show a few weeks back, i wasent there for 5 minutes and a guy came up and started asking me about the XS..... he said that he had had one back in the 80's and it was the best bike he had ever had and wished he hadent got rid of it.

I also have a friend who's dad had a 80 midnight special, he saiod he loved that bike and it was the fastest bike he had ever had and the fastest he had ever gone.... he too wished he had never sold it.
