Nothing to worry about all is good. I forget take most people don't know mother Goose. She and I have a lot of miles together and I love seeing the grin on her face every time she rides. And she rides pretty well everyday. Even after a minor crash in the rain last week she was back riding the next day. You will get your bike running and it will have been worth the wait. Mine is in pieces at the moment but I have another bike that I am riding till I get it done.

"When I was growing up I thought a custom was some that you made yourself."
Hi Ernie,
when you go to a symphony concert everyone applauds the conductor and all he does is stand in front of the people doing the work and wave a little stick, right?
I have great ideas for building a custom bike but no money to buy the parts or to pay expert craftsmen to do the difficult parts. But if I had the money to create a custom bike I would farm out the work with a clear conscience. The sign at the show would certainly say "sheetmetal by Sam, paint by Pete, Engine by 'Arold", etc. etc. But that bike would be MY idea, MY concept, MINE!Fred Hill, S'toon

Just illustrating naivety of childhood.
BTW, a bike shop in Barrie will soon be selling Orange County customs. My neighbour told me they will start in the $40s and go up. You will have a choice of several models. I imagine if sales go well we'll have double or triple vision at the the local show and shine.Ernie

I know alot of harley guys around here and i do alot of custom paint work for them, a few of the guys have built and ressurected a few 50 yo old bikes which i can appreciate the efoort involved. i guess if you have the Knowledge to undertake that amount of work thats the way to go but alot of folks cant do it or just want to write a ck and enjoy.I guess it all comes down to the owner and how they present them selfs like i tell my kid dont pretend to be something your not....

Most of the ROT guys were so lame they had to pull out the owners manual to figure out how to put gas in their rides.

I used to get a kick out of the Harley commercial where there are herds of sheep, and the black sheep (representing Harleys) seperate themselves out and escape into town....there are more and more of them until.........lo and behold....they are a herd of sheep again......lol .......
Seriously tho...I consider anyone who gets out and enjoys the world on two wheels as a kindered spirit...no matter what brand of bike they ride. I have no animosity toward anyone who rides...there are good guys and bad guys in every crowd...Harley riders and everyone else included. We all ride...there shouldn't be bad blood between us.

Succubus,
Im not much for the posin myself.I usually avoid the the glam squids for my own saftey. And that kinda congestion I dont need.I 'd rather be riding than transporting my bike on a trailer. All that Can be good for a laugh though.Im Not a crowd person.
.( i will do the bike show in toronto).Shake my head at the glam rides that have never seen pavement. Each to his own as to what one sees as a beautiful motorcycle.
Egsols(Barrie ONT) knows we have some of the best touring roads around where one may not see another car at all for miles. Paved county roads.Hills twisties mountains (small)Lake side roads that go on and on.Im Hanover walkerton by the way. If I do end up tourin through beach town or just a saturday night where the young squids or those who ride two wheel technology or just those who may have forgotten what a motorcyle truely is.My XS has that distinct low sound of reserved powerand .Im proud to say Ive kept it stock and beautiful . ( boast boast) Paintman nailed it by saying folks hangin outpause on their tim hortons look and ask "what the hecks that guy ridin?"Every now and then I run into a purist from the 70 and 80.s.Have a good chat. Or the odd party that asks me if my bike is an 89 or a 1990.
" No." " A , 79.. " Doesnt happen often , but every now and then it does. And inside I just beam .Thats my personal shine and show. Im just not good at standin in line waiting to get my hand shook and fearing about hand prints on my gas tank.
Imust say you guys got some great stories thuis thread!!!(Love the pinstripes from the dog.)Usually spy one of those on the back of her leg of the mrs. nylons. Do I tell her or just enjoy trying to figure out how the dog got it there.
Later ,Be safe.

Hey youngnip,
Our cottage is at Sauble Beach, awesome drive out from Barrie, take all back roads through Duntroon, Beaver Valley, out to Chatsworth, no cars, not even on long weekends (till we hit Springmount anyways).
I'll have to let you know next time I have the bike up and maybe we can hook up for a ride. BTW, a buddy of ours plays for the Hawks (Jr B) in Walkerton.Ernie
