  • pics of my new toy

After catching a bunch of *&^% for not having posted pics of the 80 MNS I have finally gotten around to it. Here they are.

I had already removed the carbs and airbox.

    Engine has been painted.

Nope.... ugly as sin. As a matter of fact, you just need to bring it to the next ride and let me take the disgusting thing off your hands for you. You know... just because I'm a friend and all...

    Nice find you lucky azz!!

      Thanks,
I was able to get that jet out ... with a drill and an easy-out. These carbs have been a pain. I have had to drill out most of the bolts to get them off of the rails and about half of the bolts that hold the top covers. Since I have to order new jets now anyway, what are your thoughts on DynaJets? I read somewhere that they are supposed to increase horsepower.

Don't DO THE DYNAJETS!!!! You can do MUCH better with the chart that is in another thread, and use mikuni jets from mikesxs. Almost everyone who has tried the DynaJet system has been running VERY RICH. with the cost of fuel, and spark plugs, that would NOT be a good thing, IMHO.

Quite right, J.D. any mechanic worth his salt has an old bench car seat in his garage, parked right under the Snap-On titty calendar!

Seriously, nice find on the Midnight.

Thanks for the replies guys. I actually have an excuse for the couch. We got a new one and that one is just waiting to be hauled off to goodwill. At the moment it is just getting in the way. I really will eventually get around to it. If I keep telling myself that, I actually might.

You better keep it. If you start spending as much money and time with the bike as I do.... you may need a place to sleep.

I guess that would come in handy but it has to go. Takes up way too much room that sould be bike parking space.

                    Hmm...you have a double garage? I'm envious
I didn't notice the exhaust, do you have the original pipes?

When I'm out in the garage...now and then look over to my LG and mumble something about getting to it
Too many projects and too little time and once I get off my rear this morning will be out riding around instead of putting in some time wrenching.

I have been working on the carbs today. What a pain, had to drill out about half of the screws. Also had to drill out 2 of the pilot jets. I am gonna look for new jets today. The brake calipers will need to be rebuilt and I need some gaskets then I can try and start her up. I think it will be a nice bike when I am finished but I am trying not to rush it.
