The bike I've been waiting for for 10 years or more. The MC I would borrow money for. Now it's available to order and I'm crying because it's $18,000.

WOW! Did you listen to the vids? It has veriable intake track length. It shortens at higher rpm for more top end I was displeased, however, that there is no mention of HP. Sounds like and awesome bike though.

This thing looks wicked! I agree, disappointing that they don't give any power ratings.

I'd love to have one. Just like I'd of loved to have a new XS in 78. Maybe in 30 years, I'll be driving a 2008 V-Max!!!

That's 197 at the crank... take away probably 15% to get it to the ground. 167 hp is still fairly impressive, but at a bulbous weight of 683 pounds....close to a half ton with me and luggage... it sure isn't going to impress anyone in the turns.

I also agree with Rob that it's not going to impress me much just sitting still either?? lol. To each his own... Somebody did write on one of the forums I read that for the same price, you could get a Kaw ZRX 1400 AND a ZRX 1000 for the same price of just one V-Max! lol.

Saw an 05 in a dealership here and loved it. This new one looks too cartoonish for me. I don't like it.

Man the concept looked really cool, but I think the production model is fugly. It's definitely a VMAX though. I'd rather have an old one.

Oh Gawd, is it ever ucking fugly.

with my XS11SG I already have a bike with awesome power and mediocre handling.
OK, so the V-Max power is even more awesome and they may even have improved the handling. But even if I did have a spare $18K the V-Max still has fake plastic nostrils hanging off a real air intake cover pretending to be a fuel tank. Hideous, moronic and ghastly are euphemisms for my real opinion about it's looks.

They were ugly then and they are ugly now. They were fast then and they are even faster now. I would be afraid that beast would sprain my wrists. But I guess I would risk it if someone whats to give me one.
