  • Leading front axel

Ok now...I have an'80 special with a leading front axel....
Does any one know if there is much difference between the leading front axel and the standard so far as handling goes? Just an off the wall question that poped into my head:-) I like the way it looks but that may have been the engineers thought all along to sell more bikes and give it a bit more of a cruiser look.

The steering geometry (rake and trail) are the same between the standards and specials. The steering (theoreticlly) should feel the same.
Yamaha designed the forks for the specials so they would look longer (Harleyesque).
IMHO the standard forks are better in the brake caliper department.

      forks

IMHO, I think the Special forks are better designed. They use a 2 slider bushing set-up per fork as opposed to the standard's 1. They seem to be better over bumps.
