  • XS-XJ rally banner

I'm thinking having another banner made, identical to the first, so there will be two of them available. Maybe keep one east of the Mississippi River, and the other one for the west of the big muddy.
Who actually owns/purched the original banner? Anybody know?
Would anybody be interested in contributing to the cause?

      John:

The reason I am Keeper of the Banner is because I bought the original for the 2001 rally. A small shop in Whitewater, Wisconsin did the work for me, using one of the Owner's Association badges as a sample. (I was living in Whitewater at the time.) The script was done by hand, as there was no matching font to copy.

Only change I might make concerns the dates; mine went to '82, most newer XS stuff lists production as '84.

Cost at the time was about $110.00 - $120.00 if I recall correctly. I had extra grommets put in the edges for more support / more hanging options. Edges are double-bonded, as I explained to the shop, the banner was intended for outdoor use and would get more wind and sun exposure than some banners. The shop did a good job.

Size worked out to an even 4 ft by 6 ft, same scale as the Owner's Association badge. Turns out the 4 foot width is a standard banner size when it comes to ordering fabric.

Would help with cost if you get a end one made.

I also have a Yamaha banner, B & W color scheme, you can see it in one of the photos taken in Revelstoke. Look for it about half-way down the page:

I have this one in my garage; as ever, if anyone wants to use it, just drop me a line and I'll ship it out. I would appreciate getting both banners back at the end of the year, however.

Do you have file for the old banner, If you do one of the graphic houses I deal with may be able to do it for a VERY GOOD price If know what I mean. It would most likely be made of an outdoor vinyl with a clear vinyl laminate to protect it if that is suitable.

I don't have a file. I handed the shop the Owner's Association badge (the black one) and asked if they could duplicate it as a banner. After a few questions (size, hanging options, outdoor use) the shop went ahead and made it up. Took about a week.

Banner has been all over the US and into parts of Canada.

It generally costs about $8 - $12 to ship it between venues.

                    e.z.nightrider,

                    Will this help?

I think these are the fonts they may have been using.

                    B= bold
                    etc.

I think it was the word "Eleven" that the shop had to hand-make, no matching font for it. 'Course, its been almost 8 years....
