When I got my bike, I tried to explain to my 4 and 5 years old daughters that it was a Yamaha Maxim. But when they heard that it was called after a person's name (Maxime here in Quebec), they laughed so hard and the name sticked.

If I'm going out on a ride, I'm alway's with Maxime. It's a funny tough to them.

Maybe over time, I will get a new name. I must admit that it's not very original to call my Maxim "Maxime".

My Norton is "Emma", like Emma Peal, staid and demure, a tea party waiting to happen. Right and proper.
My Sportster is "Betty", a brazen bitch that likes to get slapped around. She is a loudmouth and sometimes gives me trouble.
My XS is "Louise", like a waitress at a diner with big arms, strong but short on style, she is true and takes care of my every need.
I used to have an SV650 named "suzi". Suzi was like a 19 year old pierced and tattoed punk rock girlfriend who took me to the wild side. I had to loose suzi - she was too fast for me.

      This is sick.

I too had a bike named Suzi, she was a '83 750t and had a mean front end that refused to stay fixed after fork seal replacement...she left me several broken bones and I sent her away to sit in my brother's garage 1,000 miles away...

          Let's see,

my '80 XS11SG takes a long time to warm up (cold blooded),
          is black and shiney,
a quick crack of the throttle, when she's warm, will temporarily disorient you,
and she looks like something you really don't want to mess with, unless you know how to handle her............

          2007 Honda CBR600RR - "Twitch"

I call mine psycho bike. With a 1200 ig bore kit, custom made cam shafts, carb modifications, custom made trans gears to name a few mods, it's a pretty crazy ride mainly just hanging on is a treat in itself.

ya know.... honestly, i hadn't thought about naming the bike.... strange, considering i have four guitars that i have named (lerenia, margaret, tori, and kelly) (had another, kim, but she is with somebody else now.)

used to have a 79 KZ750.... called her Cassiopia...

recently, friends have referred to my riding habits as being appropriate for a murdercycle or a donorcycle... i suspect it is true...

perhaps, for now i shall call her donorcycle..

                Madness

My wife actually named the bike Madness. It was fitting at the time and still is. Simply because it is madness how Damn fast that thing will go.

She believes that I am in love with it. She may be right although I think it is just lust.

I like most of you have also heard the phrase " that bike is you mistress."
                Madness comes from within.

                    Nicknames

                    Well,
People who give things like motorcycles "nicknames" must be NUTS
                    OK...So I'm a nut!!
I call my 80 SG (full Dresser) "The Beast"...gave it to her after a Coast-to-Coast ride in '97...she's big...mean...and "scary"...pulls like a "Beast" Even FULLY loaded... in ALL gears...you guys know the story

The Wife got the 6th Special ever made '79 SF (NO Kidding!)
We call it "The Missile" WHY?...it's Sleek & Shiny...and can streak accross the sky and wreak havoc upon the unsuspecting

Then we decided to "complete the set" (have ALL years of the "SPECIAL") so we found the "New Kid" an '81 SH and now our family is complete
I have a new name in mind for the "KID" but that's a story for another day...

My old girl is called 'the coffin', she's black and shiny and it takes four people to carry her. I also expect to be buried with it lol

everybody I ride with has a new bike like busa's or r1's and me and my brother are into older bikes, mine of course is a 79 xs11 and my brother rides a 83 gs11 so they call us old school. They call my bike turbosaurus, she is still the fastest bike on the street so I usually shut them up pretty fast.

I resurrected an 18 XS11 Special with the front end, fenders, gauges and seat from a standard. It also has Harley Sportster muffles on it. I also had to do a lot of customer wining to get it all to work together. I call it my XS11 Mongrel.
Hi my name is Tony and I'm a bikeoholic.

The old gray biker ain't what he used to be.

                              Ahh Tony,

Mongrel.. yes very familar.. When i Got my "mongrel" i had no idea it was a special that had been wrecked rebuilt on a standard frame, with standard lower forks, and who knows upper shocks..

It has special stuff mostly, and a totaly unknown seat that is put on by angle iron held on by the signals...

Right now rusty's engine is in her as the mongrels' gave it up, I havent been there yet to see what thats all about..

Im now doing another "pickup wire" fix as that has been the last sumbling block that has kept me (well life included) off the road for the past 18 months...

But that sunset and the clear blue here in seattle, the winds are whispering.. "RIDE, Ride man, Ride.." no wait thats my son wanting another trip on the bike..

My Midnight Special had to be called "Mr T" after the character in The A-Team 'cos it's big, black, covered in gold and the baddest mutha to come out of the 80's. You'd be a foool to disrespect this bike.

Makes me wonder though, when you're getting to know your bike which comes first, the 'gender' or the name ?
