Mine don't work, but they did when I got the bike. But I changed to an electronic flasher because I was instantly planning on going to LED lights and didn't like how it nearly always cancelled before I wanted them to anyways.

Mine works, but I would LOVE to be able to buy an auto-cancel unit that would work with LED signals. Changing my signals to LEDs would allow my stock alternator to supply all the juice I need to run without dimming the headlight at a stoplight.

If you take a look around there are several aftermarket companies that make add-on turn signal canceler units made for "universal" applications, however I think that most or all are purely time based, and don't care about distance traveled like the stock one.

            Yep now they do...

Didn't work until I took the housing apart. All oxidized, cleaned and work smoother than ever.

Don't get pulled over without them, in Kalifornia they can impound the bike for not having them. Same with not having front brakes. Just looked that up BTW.

                  Mine work on both bikes

On the G, both the signal and the hazard flashers work.
On the J, signal flasher it started working after I replaced the fuse panel with the TC special.
                  All's well.

Huh, learn something new every other day. I thought I was forgetting to turn the signal on. So I recon they do work.

If I could change one thing about them, it would be the distance traveled required to turn them off at slower speeds. Whenever I make a turn on to a minor street from a major road that has no turning lane (which is every major road here), I like to give the cages behind me plenty of time to notice my blinker, brakelight, etc. and I don't want to have it going off just as I'm getting to a stop while I'm braking clutching and shifting and can't really hit it left again to keep it on....just my little vent. Otherwise I like them.

The self-cancel quit working last week. I had to disassemble the speedometer to solder one of the wires back on the reed switch and it works again!

I hate it when the signals self-cancel right at or just before an intersection. I found a tip somewhere about pushing the turn signal switch twice to override the self-cancel but I don't remember where I read it. It might be a bunch of baloney so I'll have remember to try it and see if it really works or if it just resets the countdown timer.

As best as I have been able to notice, pushing it again, once activated, only resets the timer. So if you hit it and then are busily engaged clutching breaking all the way through your turn, not really helpful.

My self-canceller works fine... but I've discovered a difference between the XJ's and the rest of the 11 lineup... you can't push in to cancel on an XJ the way you can the rest of the line. At least not on mine??? Maybe I have a little problem and didn't realize it??? Blissful ignorance, maybe??? LOL

It's drizzling here today. I don't feel like getting wet and oily playing around on slick streets and dodging dimwits with cellphones glued to their li'l noggins just to test my turn signals . It works great in the garage! Manana, man, manana.

From what I understand, you have to push DOWN on the switch to cancel the XJ signals. Not IN like the XS.
