• June 22 Lake County, CA Poker Run

My band is playing at a poker run put on by Lake County ABATE Local 28. I rode the run last year as well as playing in the band. This was a really fun event and any Nor Cal XSives who haven't explored the byways and scenic wonders of Lake Co. should consider attending. The other guitar player in my band won $200 in the raffle last year so it could be lucrative as well. For those who aren't familiar with ABATE, it is a motorcyclist rights organization which lobbies legislatures to defeat stupid laws such as the Motorcycle Seat Belt Law (I'm not kidding!). ABATE stands for American Brotherhood Aimed Towards Education. Below is the flyer...

We're also playing another run on August 17th. I've ridden several of the Ironhorse Creations runs and they have been a blast as well. Entry to this one is FREE!

This run ends up at a waterfront bar 'n' grill on Konocti Bay which is popular with both bikers and boaters and which happens to be just down the hill from my house. The dinner deal here is that you chargrill your own steak so you know it'll be done the way you like it.
    Shiny side up,

XS1100SF "Rusty", runs great, 96k miles
XS650SJ "The Black Bike", engine from XS650H with 750cc big bore kit, 30k miles

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in one pretty and well preserved piece, but to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, worn out and defiantly shouting, "WOW, what a ride !" - Sprung

Sounds like fun. I love that part of CA. I have said in the past that anything south of Redding is useless,,,but Ca is like OR it has everything..just more people. lol.

P.S. I won't get flamed for showing up on a jap bike. ?? I've been on some run's that are HD sponsored, or club events, and got a ration, sort of have to walk backwards. lol

        Mike,
I'll be UNDERWATER on June 22, but I think I can make the August ride! I LIKE the roads up that way, so I'll have to see what I can do!

I may make that too, Ray. That would be really cool. The roads down there are crazy, twisty, fun.

June is booked solid for me but I should be able to make that August ride. It'd be great to hook up with some of you.

Would love to see some XSives up here for these runs. Riding Japanese is not a problem with anyone, they know we can dust 'em in any kind of speed contest and having a bike that's nearly 30 years old has some real cachet. Some of the riders up here have old Brit bikes.

I generally don't ride with the pack. I usually ride with a few friends and we pick our favorite routes to the stops.

If I remember correctly high hand on the Abate run is worth $500. You can get details on all runs in the area from www.ironhorsecreations.com

I just remember that that will be WAY too close to the coming of the second child.
