  • Unique bike...

I saw this while driving by in Eureka Springs, AR this weekend. I wish I had stopped to take a few more pics of it. It's a double sidecar setup. I'd sure hate to have to change the center rear tire! Looks like he's about due for all three.

    Thought it was kinda cool.

    Steering?

How does it steer? It looks like he has extended controls going to the left side?
Also look as though he took off the actual seat of the bike?

If you look at the 2nd pic, you can see a steering handle down over the tank. Looks like it would be awkward to me, but you would get used to it I'm sure.

No comments as to why the right side tire may be balder than the other one...

"Maybe the wrong weight rating on that tire?"

The center tire follows the front tire. The side tires wear quicker due to the 'scuffing' sideways during turns.

            Yeah, neat concept.

            Hi Prom,
Sidecar tires "scuff" because the wheel usually "leads" the rear wheel, my own rig has a 12" sidecar wheel lead and it's tire shows hardly any wear at all. Typically sidecar tires will last way longer than the other two. The outer tires on that double rig look to be in line with the rear tire so there will be zero scuffing but what does cause rapid sidecar tire wear is excessive toe-in and with an amateur-built rig that can easily happen. But in this case it's more likely that the pair of Comstar wheels the builder salvaged for the project (you can see the rightside wheel still has it's drive sprocket) are still wearing the baldies they came with.

Actually all..................except for the outside mods, that is a kit you can buy for several models of bikes. The center wheel is the motorcycles's wheel. The outer two do not drive the bike.
