I came across this in the New York Times: Wheels Blog. This one is mostly motorcycle related, has links to some helmet safety stats (or lack of them) and a few interesting articles and videos.

        Careful who you call PIG!

        Jerry is in Law enforcement!

But, yeah, mid 70's here today after over a week of dismal drizzling rain/fog!!! The bikes were out in force, including the CHIPS on their HD's, must be a tough job!

No offense taken. Besides, our standard vehicle here in Garfield County, Colorado is either a Ford F150 or F250 4wd truck. Not a motorcycle in the fleet.

A few local municipalities use BMW bikes, mostly a police version of the R1150RT. I could get into that.

We also have a couple Polaris 500 HO ATVs for getting around some areas where the trucks don't do well. Not equipped with light bars and such, but do have the Sheriff's badge and some specialized gear on them.

Working law enforcement in a mountain county requires different equipment than you find in a urban setting. Still, wish the Sheriff would add a couple motorcycles to the mix.

BTW, our search and Rescue unit is also equipped with snowmobiles, but they don't belong to the Sheriff's Office.
