  • Big Tank On Ebay!!

I'm just going through ebay, and noticed this tank out of Canada. It's the "BIG" tank! anyone in the market for one??
    Item number 220218085286 .
I have my large tank, just trying to help someone else that likes to go about 200 miles between fills.

If you get that thing, you will have to deal with the handlebars as well. The Model H hars are abit higher to clear the tank.

I don't think so. I had superbike bars on the bike with the bid tank before I sold it to DR...

My ass is only good for about 120 miles between stops these days so it wasn't going to do me any good anyhow... Although, I do think the big tank does have nicer lines.

I was tempted. At one time I would have jumped all over this. I think I will stay with my standard Standard tank that I am getting 150-170 miles with.

I agree Geezer, I stop the same amount to give my @rse a rest, but its nice to have the extra in case filling stations are further apart.

Around were I ride, I've never gone over 120 miles without finding a gas station. The worse case I had was 103 miles on a special tank. I think I rode in there on fumes.

It's not like the days when I rod a Guzzi with a 6.4 gallon tank on a bike that got 45 to 55 mpg on the open road. I could ride that bike for a week on a full tank...

Thats why I like to ride with the guys on Specials, between the anvil seat on my G and my need for a nicotine fix, 120 miles is 'bout it.

                old salts

you guys sound like a bunch of old bikers...LOL... my ST1100 has a 7.4 gal tank!Good for 300+ miles and it gets close to 50 mpg at cruising speeds of 80mph!My Madmax'82 XJ only has a 4.5 gal tank and my 81 XS special has the larger tank so thats abt 5 gals. Its kind of ironic in comparing the ST1100 to my XS and XJ11's
On the Yammies if I do more than 200 miles I feel wiped out physically...both bikes are unfaired....but on the ST I can do 300 miles before i feel the need to take a break. Then I get back on it and feel like I could easily do another 300 miles...The level of comfort and wind protection are the difference between feeling like and old salt and a young salt..so to say...Ah when I was younger 400 mile days on the Max was not unheard of....

                  distance between fill-ups

                  Guys,
at my age I don't like to ride for more than an hour between stops either but that's not the point. I want to stop at good coffee shops or places of natural beauty or for any number of "real" reasons. Having to plan the stops on a ride based not on human factors but on absolutely having to stop for gas every 90 miles because some arsehole of a stylist decided that an 1100cc bike only needed a 3.2 USG gas tank is a major annoyance.

Fred, thats exactly what I like about the big tank.

I live in the Lake District in the UK and can plan a real good route along great back roads around the passes, lakes and off into the Dales without going anywhere near a major road, only passing through villages which don't have fuel stops. The big tank is great for this, lads with smaller ranges on their bikes have to detour for fuel.
