  • Any old school jet boat forums?

Why not ask here since I haven't been got any idea where else to find answers? I've been looking for a good forum for older jet boats. Found a couple of forums, but I believe these guys are out of my league, way out of my league. It seems most of them are in compition or a circuit of some sort. I'm looking for the weekend warrior kind of place.
Or am I in the right place?

Did ya try hotboats.com? They have a section just for "squirt" boats. If you have an engine question, lotsa people here can help. I had some exposure to the pumps and some hull mods, but I am a "prop" kinda guy.

      Well since you are asking.

I have my eye on a 1979, COBRA JET, 16', 403 olds, rebuilt motor, GM HEI ignition system vacuum advanced, COMP CAM #42-231-4, cylinders .30 over just for refreshing, 750 cfm carter, on a eldelbrock performer intake, Berkeley pump, "A" impeller.
Wanting to update the ignition system with a rev limiter.
Wanting to rebuild the pump with kit.
Looking for timing settings and what weights work well and at what RPM.
      Looking for steering cable.
      Looking for a "JET-O-VATOR" complete.
Looking for a "Air Scoop" carb. mount. (sound familiar?)
Looking for a program, that you get hp's, after plugging in info on the motor, as a guild line to see what works and what won't.
Any suggestions or input or just what you think is welcomed.

MSD box should take care of the rev limit.
Pump kits ARE available, use google to look up "Berkeley Pump"+"Boat".
Steering cable can be made up at almost any good boat shop.
Craigs list for the "Jet-O-Vator" and carb mount.

          Found some.

          Hey webbcraft2150,
Checked out hotboats, thanks for input. Alot of these forums are "out of my caliber". There are alot of really nice and fast boat on there. Way out of my caliber, talking triple diggets, we're talking both speed and cost.
Also found midwesthotboats and some others. Thanks for some direction.

          Hey DriverRay,
Msd ignition sounds great.....which one, any past expierence? I was thinking the 6al.?.
          Found some pump kits, thanks.
Boat dealers in my area, gave them a call, pretty much hung up as soon as I told them the year and that it was a pump.
No good luck so far on a "jet -o-vator", I have got to do some more research because I may need a "place diverter".?.
Carb mount scoop, I am finding them, thanks.
