I have a 85 Chevy G30 RV. Does anyone know of a site similar to this one (question & answer) for Chevy?

OK.
85 Chevy 350, 400 turbo. When the transmition is cold, even in the summer when it's 70 deg. it has a whine until it warms up some. The colder it is outside the longer it takes to go away. If you put it in gear the whine goes away, or at least lessens. IIRC.
Also, until it warms up some, when you put it in gear it's like it doesn't go into gear, like it's in neutral, forward & reverse. When it's warm it works fine. Ever hear of such a thing?79 F full cruiser, stainless brake lines, spade fuses, Accel coils, modded air box w/larger velocity stacks, 750 FD.

First mission would be to drop the trans pan and see what ugly things lurk there. Sometimes, a fluid and filter change will solve the problem. The single biggest killer of AT's is heat and the lack of servicing (that and 3k neutral drops ) Fluid should pink/red. See what that does for ya and report back. No overdrive. It has salvage yard markings, like that when I got it 4 yrs ago. I put less than 6000 mi. on it.
I was going to add a trans cooler this summer. Should I bypass radiator completely, or run trans fluid from trans to cooler to radiator. I only use rv in the summer.
So you have heard of these symtoms?
Will have to wait till it warms up a bit to change fluid.79 F full cruiser, stainless brake lines, spade fuses, Accel coils, modded air box w/larger velocity stacks, 750 FD.

I always plumb the cooler so oil flows from the transmission, through the cooler, and THEN into the radiator and back to the transmission. If the oil gets too cold, it is also bad for the transmission.Ray Matteis
