Jacket shopping - stupid question

Been shopping for a jacket, leaning toward a Tour Master Cortech. I've been reading the descriptions and there's one acronym I can't identify. Here's the stupid question:

What is a TPR pull?

I've worn a TourMaster jacket and pants since 2001 (?) and have been very satisfied with it. Cuffs are now starting to fray a bit, so its looking little worn, but should still be good for a couple more seasons of use.

I have a zip-in liner, so can wear the jacket in early spring and late fall riding and be comfortable. I remove the guards (armor) and wash the jacket at home in the regular washer.

Have also found that the inner mesh and vents make for an acceptable summer ride, hot when you stop, but not bad while moving. I've ridden in 110 deg F temps while in Arizona with the jacket and matching pants and felt OK.

What I would change:

My older jacket does not snap or zip to the pants to keep it from riding up in an accident. I understand the newer versions have added this feature.

Jacket is water-resistant but not water proof. I found that you had to be sure to have the pocket flaps out of the pockts during a rain; the pockets collect water otherwise. A little drain in the bottom of the pockets would not go amiss.

Individual tastes vary, but if the jacket fits well I think you might like it. Another good brand is Joe Rocket. If you do a search on jackets you will find a few discussions and brand names to look at.

I have a Joe Rocket mesh jacket (Phoenix 3.0) and am very happy with it's fit and quality. It's a joy to wear in the summer - you hardly even notice it's on when riding and when stopped the breeze blows right through it. Unfortunately, it's porosity makes it pretty much useless in the rain.

I've only been a "fair weather rider" so far. Only been caught in the rain a couple of times and I was close to home. Still got pretty wet.

It's made of of a kevlar/poly mix with CE armor everywhere. I feel much safer wearing it. Might look a little silly, but at least my upper torso has a fighting chance. I have the matching pants, but hardly wear them....

It even has TPR pulls!

I received a Tourmaster jacket and pants for x-mas. I have not used them yet, but hopefully soon. They seem to be well made, zip together and are waterproof. They fit, but are sized small. I normally wear an xxl. These fit and are xxxl.

I will say that I have had a Tourmaster rainsuit for 2 years that is of very poor quality. It has ripped at the seams and the zipper finally broke. The first time I wore it I tore a seam.

Joe rocket size accuracy

Does you joe rocket seem to be pretty true to size? The next post referenced newenough.com and they have the 4.0 for $85. I have found in bike coats and leather in general a 3x really means a xl with breathing room. Jr advertises a 5x which in reality is a 3x.

I just bought the Cortech on ebay, used (still had a sticker for size) for $37 shipped. I have only worn it once, darn snow, I like it a lot better than my old leather jacket. I see them on there quite often.

I've been using First Gear Jacket and pants for the past three years. They are getting old, as they have about 70K miles on them, but still work. The size is accurate, in that the Jacket is an XL, and I still fit at 230lbs. I have the mesh pants, and just put in the liner for the winter ride. It only gets down to about 30 F. here, so I don't need any real "warm" stuff under the jacket and pants.
My summer ride in the desert, I would stop and soak the pants and jacket in water, and then ride for the next rest stop. It was 118 F , but I was able to function, and stayed as comfortable as could be.

$37 is a good deal. I bought my outfit (jacket, pants, foot protectors) for about $150.00. Outfit was still new in box, but, as I mentioned, the older version with no way to join the jacket to the pants. Don't think it has the TPR pull either...

Size seems to be pretty accurate; I ordered an XXL (I am 6' 1", 265 lbs) and it fits pretty well. Matching pants do not have vents, so I leave the side zippers not quite all the way up, which creates a 'vent' just down from the top of the hip. This helps keep the legs cooler.

Jacket has velcro-adjustable wrist bands, which I find quite useful to regulate the air going through the jacket. I tighten these down for cool weather riding, open them up to get more air flow in warm weather. Interestingly, Tourmaster didn't mention this feature in their literature in regards to regulating air flow, but I have found it more effective than opening and closing the other vents built into the jacket.

Mine is a 2x and has always seemed a tad small for that size. In fact, I'm going to have to drop some of the weight I picked up during the winter in order to wear it comfortably again. It's a bit snug in the belly region now. I blame pizza.
