    updated and consolidated photos...she runs!!!

hey there folks...weather broke and the ol' lady kicked me out of the house.....enjoyed a balmy 54 out in the man cave......progress was made.....windows were rattled...small children ran for cover.....air raid sirens sounded.....these first photos are a consolidation of a previous thread that is showing my interpetation of ken's float height adjustment setup.....true back yard mechanic genius.....simple yet it is idiot proof.....

these second set of photos are of firing the beast up.....and the problems found....

    new shocks.....

    side/trunk covers.....

    http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/i...l/DSC02018.jpg[/IMG]

prom, the part # for the gas tank i'm using is 22758001.0-001cm.....1.0 for the gallons she holds....cm for craftsman......

    http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/i...l/DSC02012.jpg[/IMG]

also new shock bushing didn't fit stud so i had to press in and out a couple bushings.....

    http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/i...l/DSC02013.jpg[/IMG]

all didn't go as planned...had fuel flow out the vaccuum line as shown here with the tool kit dipstick in the hose.....not sure what is causing this but suspect it might be related to the float height levels....could one be hanging up....would a solid rap with the screwdriver on the float bowl rattle things free....as you can see above have set the float heights and had no fuel flowing when setup on the bench.....

    [/IMG]

lastly, here is photo of my friends truck up in thunder lake, mi.....just showing him how 2 link from photobucket to xs11.com......

    http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/k...nter080039.jpg[/IMG]

any advice regarding the fuel problem would be appreciated folks....brokenarrow, i am gonna stay with you and show you how 2 post photos on this forum even if i have 2 ride up there and use your computer...hahahaha....now how is this for a 100th posting....all hail the xs11.com gods....ross

        ya wanna see my trunk?

just thought i would post photos of my new trunk.....very nice vedder original.....only problem was that i had to rewire almost the entire thing.....the po (aka dumba**) for some reason cut all 4 of the brake lite leads off at the socket (behind the rubber boots).....if you have one of these and need parts best i can tell ya is hit your local auto parts store....the sockets can not be removed from the rest of the mounting hardware.....i rebuilt all 4 sockets for around $5......kick in another $5 for new wire and BAM! you have a very nice working trunk that will be matching the bike.....ross

          strippers in the garage....

just another installment of redoing the rebel devil.....today we are stripping the tank and finding that the PO bondo'ed over the side badges and also hid some other defects that are gonna have 2 be fixed b4 we shoot primer...also shot the side covers, tail section, and trunk lid...if it works out might have a very good fuel proof clear coat for ya all 2 try out....talk 2 ya later...ross

While you are working on the tank, don't forget to run a wire of some type through the "drain" between the cap and the back of the tank. I used a length of speedometer drive cable to clean out the inside of the drain. You DO NOT want it to be blocked, as it will collect water and rust through. Since the tube runs through the INSIDE of the tank, it would NOT be a good thing.
