    Hey Brandon,

Welcome to XS11 heaven and Tranny HELL!

Now, if you'll scroll down from the MAIN FORUM PAGE, not just clicking on the Link in the yellow left column, and go to the Tech Tips forums, the Repairs, Tranny section, you'll find several threads on the subject, the causes, and the cures!

Very common problem with many of the XS era bikes, 11's, 750's, etc.! Hope you have "some" mechanical skills and tools!

        Hi T.C.,

I guess you just have that reply tucked away somewhere, to be replayed at regular intervals.......

          Hey Alan,

Believe it or not, I don't, I just type it as I go. Best class I took in High School, way before we had personal computers and such! My handwriting was atrocious, and knew that I wouldn't be able to get decent grades turning in handwritten theses and such, so I actually paid attention, practiced, and viola, it paid off!

Helps to be able to use all 4 fingers on each hand and the thumbs!

              Hi 11S,

Only you can judge if what you paid is OK; the repair to the tranny could cost you a couple of hours work and some gaskets, or be a little more involved. Either way, lots of the posters on here have done the same repair...... some as a FIRST "major" mechanical project.

There is more help and support on here than you might believe; It will get fixed.... and they are GREAT bikes... especially for 850!

Doing the repair isn't that bad. Just watch what you are doing. And if you come into anything you can't figure out just come here and ask. Anytime of the day as there is always someone on here that can help.

And planedick is right, if you could fill out your location info there may be someone close by that could help out.

Oh and you think 3rd-5th is a blast. Wait when you get 1st and 2nd fixed. The first time you hit hard you'll swear your on a rocket. It will get addicting.

                    Good Luck!

                      1st & 2nd

Yeah, first gear will get you to about 50 mph in about 2 sec and 2nd will get you to around 80 mph in about 2 sec more.
