Dodge ball.........never looked at it like that. You also wanna keep a close eye in your mirrors. A rider was going down the road from me about 3 years ago, Bam a deer tried to cross the road and hit him.........sometimes its your turn.

      John,

As a veteran of two tours on aircraft carriers I verbalize a hearty "Amen" to the Head on a Swivel thought. Adding aircraft to the traffic situation really complicates things. As a frequent flyer I always marvel at the damage on the Airline's trucks on the tarmac. What kind of monkeys do you guys hire to do that to them? (You're laughing WITH me right? Don't want to p_ _ _ off the moderator)

Crud, forgot the main point of the thread...

I think most riders are better drivers with a few exceptions

        1. Crotch Rocket Heros - Wheelies, Stoppies, crunchies
        2. Hardly (a) Rider - 7 beers, poor handling, even worse judgement
        3. Got my first bike, no money for ATTGATT - Shower Shoes, Shorts, no Shirt, BIG $$$$ for plastic surgery

        Did I miss anyone?

Your comments don't PO me...it's the idiots that drive them that get me. Most users of the trucks are facilities maint,or aircraft maint. They park near the plane, and the bagrats use them for target practice. I have made ready quite a few brand new trucks for use on the ramp, and just once I would like to put the first dent in one. I don't understand why we don't buy used vehicles for use on the ramp. I have joked about starting a pool on how long before a unit gets hit. With all the cutbacks we have had to make, body and paint was one of the first to go away. I have always wondered what the passengers think of the integrity of the aircraft is after seeing how bad the GSE looks.
I too did two WestPacs on CV63 back in the late 70's early 80's. Which boat were you on?

Anyone, regardless of whether they ride a bike or not, who is talking on the cell phone while driving.

The person talking on the phone scares me more than anything but a drunk driver.

              John,

              I/O cruises 80, 83 on USS America
Med '89 on CV 43 USS Coral Sea

I was an ACLS tech and often had to get out on the Flight Deck to verify antenna alignments and put the bloody reflectors down when the engines where turning (without the benefit of Flight Deck pay, only so many billets according to the DKs and PNs). It was a scary place, my hat is off to the guys who earned that flight deck pay.

After the carriers and the Naval Air Stations, I ended up in the amphib Navy (NECs don't mean dookey to an ET detailer after you get your anchors). I loved it there. I would still be there, but SWMBO said I needed to get a real job.
