I hear you snow man. I had the SHotgun Special running day before yesterday and looked out at the dry highway, then at my drive way with 3" of packed but melting snow. Didn't want to get stuck so left it in the garage.

    Trapper
    81 SH (SHotgun Special)
    110 mains
    idle jets 2.5 turns
    floats at 24mm

As I don't really winterize the beast I like to fire it up every once in a while, then run it dry and park it back in the garage. A couple of weekends ago, when the sun was shining I rolled her out into the driveway and fired her up. My neighbours, peeking over the 5 foot snowbanks, lining the driveway, shook their heads and then dissappeared back into their burrows.

SWMBO actually used the word "IDIOT" in reference to me when she found out that I took the bike to work this week.

"There's still snow on the ground... (at this point she became Charlie Brown's teacher "Wa, Wa, Wa. Wa wa wa wa...")

Hey, the roads were dry and with my insurance policies, she'd be a very popular widow.

I have stopped riding when it is freezing here. A guy hit a patch of ice in January and slid out of a turn and went under a truck...
Nobody I knew but still, I don't need to prove I'm a tough guy to anyone. When it gets above freezing at night I'm back on it or if it's warmed up in the afternoon I'm on it for a spin.

I've had mine out for a couple weeks now. It was +1C on Saturday.

This time of year, the ground is frozen, so it can flash freeze very quickly when the temp falls below 0C.

In the late fall or early spring, when the ground is thawed, it can drop to -5 or more before the water can freeze on the road as the ground is too warm.

Just have to watch out on bridge decks, as they don't get any warmth from the ground.
Nice day, if it doesn't rain...

Same here, still get those patches of ice that like to hide, but we also have to watch for the copius amounts of sand and salt still coating the roads, especially at corners and intersections.
