  • "A rude awakening." (even for me!)

I stumbled across this cartoon today.
Tragically, it seems all too accurate.
Has my unemployment and lack of a social life really descended this far?

It's hard to criticize my grown son for playing "World of Warcraft" all day... when I sit all day at the computer and do this:

I fear that change is in order.
I must somehow find other means, and places, to feel superior that don't involve keyboards nor rules of grammar.

    It's worse than that...

I'm afraid that you could, possibly, be becoming mortal... and even worse than that... possibly... normal?

No, no... fear not prometheus.... it's simply that your ability to be correct more than most mere mortals is extending itself to the internet... You can reach so many more inferior beings that way...

My Daughter reads that strip, she stumbled across it down @ the university of Cincinnati (she's a freshman). She tells me on a semi - regular basis that I am "the man in the black hat" whatever that means.... someone please explaine, I suspect she is telling me that I'm an a$$ but some independent verification would be nice.

          She probably means this guy:

He gets his comeuppance here though:

He's in several earlier strips too, usually being generally mean to people.

This one is one of my favorites:

Quite possibly, I told her a story about how I sent a flower to some girl in a bar and when she came and found me, I basically said I sent it to her cause she was attractive but that I didn't really want anything from her (that would have been inappropriate...married you know). she asked me to dance with her several times over the course of the evening but I kept saying no. I got the idea that she left the bar rather confused and unhappy about herself. I didn't really mean to hurt her feelings, I was showing a friend of mine that it wasn't all that difficult to meet a girl, it just took a little thought, and a corny gesture. I told him that I'd not only meet her, I wouldn't have to get off my fat a$$ to do it. so as a result, my daughter thinks I'm mean purely for the fun of it, I keep trying to tell her that the "fun" part is just a by - product of being mean. still, she tells me I'm an a$$.
