No .. been side tracked with other around the house stuff. The snap on unit is nice for sure. I see that both those units in your photo use scissors arrangements to lift the platform. I am guessing they both go straight up? The unit I have here is not set up like that. I bet that style takes up less total floor space then mine does. The platform on mine goes toward the rear as it goes up.

Is this the lift (or similar) you folks are having success with?

            Hi Marty,

Anything which gets the bike up off the floor is an improvement!........

I have a proper lift, but still tend to use a ratchet strap (for tying down loads on trucks?) to the rafters for working with the wheels off.

This is the one that the Norton sits on(the cheap one):
              http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...MEWA:IT&ih=008

I have extended mine and added a good wheel vise.

It looks like the price has gone down since I bought one and now they have added a statement about how you need the flat jack or a block of wood to hold big bikes up (they didn't before). But you still don't get to read about how chintzy the ramp is or that it will break off if you try to put weight on it, until it arives at your door.

I liked the idea of this one cause it takes up less room, has wheels on both ends(can be moved around with a bike on it) and I can load it into the back of my truck by myself. Oh yeah, the foot pump = can use it anywhere.

After the modifications it works pretty good, but I wouldn't put an 800 lb bike on it. But hey, I got what I paid for.

I tried that last one. It's way too much trouble to get an XS11 on there or even my XS650. It doesn't look stable either. No thanx!

Yeah, I felt a little burned at first, but I got to lookin at it I figured out that I could fix it. I had the Handy Lift tire vise under the bench, some 3/16 plate steel in the next room and plenty of heavy angle iron laying around the yard. I beefed it up real good = it turned out to be a pretty good lift after all.

I have recently cleaned out my garage and have more room, I am considering the lift in Marty's link to be my next one.

There seems to be a few lifts like mine out there. All of them slightly different from each other. The only issue I have with this one is the placement of the removable plate which is right where the main stand of my 1100 will come down. The katana fits nicely but I think I will have to ether beef up the removable plate or weild it in place. I am however happy with this item and my back is already thanking me :-)
