I'm planning on using a Magellan explorist 500 for gps this year. Does anyone know of a source for "Mapsend Directroute" software or other similar software maps that will run on it.

So far works pretty well in the cage ( not riding weather yet, missed the 4" to 6" tonight and just got freezing rain and a 1/4 of ice on everything). So far it's easier to just download the region map to the gps and set the start and finish points on the gps not the pc. It give a beep and screen flashes a warning for which lane you need to be into exit expressways (right or left) and the usual right or left turns. I do not think the beep will be heard with a helmet on but the display will count down distance to the next turn. I have run it for a little over 7hrs with about 1/4 of the battery life left before recharging. This is not a touch screen unit it is hand held so it is best to plan your route before riding or stop to change destinations, mounts for cars and bikes are available. It is water tight and uses an SD card for memory no hard drive so it should be vibration resistant.
