i got fed up with the xj project and i went out and bought a 1979 xs11 standard this thing looks like i just bought it brand new!!! it also has a beautiful kerker 4-1 exhaust!!!!! it hauls ass big time! it handles and rides like a dream. the pics on craigs ;litst did not do it justice at all!!! it was so sparkely!! as soon as i drove up to look at i knew i was in love!!! this thing is gorgeous!!! and it runs like a champ! so now i can part out the xj after i steal the horns off of it and the foot pegs. any takers?
i'll post pics later! you can see it on craigs list atlanta search for a 79 xs11 standard it's blue and he was asking 1200 for it.

it is so new looking it's incredible!! i pulled the seat and looked at all the electricals and the frame and it's pristine!!!

also i thinbk the xj will have to be parted out unfortuanitly it looks like there is surface rust in the combustion chambers. i pulled a couple of plugs and shined the flash light in and it looks pretty crusty!

also the thing runs so good now i am not sure if i want to use the zrx carbs??? i might set them on the shelf and put them on after i have rode a bit! i have been road deprived since may.

any takers on the stock xj carbs? they are pretty clean but i think they need to be cleaned better? i am going to put them on ebay but for anyone on the board i will sell them for 60 plus shipping cost. this would be a good deal because i have seen them for alot more money on ebay.

let me know i'l give it a couple of days before i post on ebay. i will try to get pics of the bike up very soon! unfortuanilty the owner taped over the yamaha emblems on the covers so i have to remove the tape. he didn't want anyone to know what it was ... he told me a story about racing a guy in on a harley with it thsat was pretty funny!

i already hooked up my nice sealed battery my wife bought for my birthday it'll aid in the cranking when it's cold i think!

damn yahoo!!! it said the low was going to be 36 tonight! they lied it was 29 !!! i got off at 330 am and i rode home 22 miles i have great cold weather gear but my gloves suck ass!!! i have some 2xl thinsulate 40 grm gloves, they suck my fingertips were numb after 20 mins. everything else was nice and toasty!!! aside from heated gloves anybody got any suggestions for gloves?

oh yea and she cranked up first try!!! i let her idle for a few then took off!
it has the square light and by far it lights up more of the road than any other bike i have owned! i have even purchgased fog lights before to see better because i work night shift in the boonies so no streetlights. and i love the sound of the kerker exhaust! it sounds like a sport bike! but meaner! i mat do a kn drop in next! i will probobly put the zrx carbs on in the fall so i can ride her all summer!

Yeah, the Kerker DOES sound great!! I like mine when it hits about 6K, and it goes from fast to OMG. For the air filter, I just use the K&N in the stock airbox, with about eight 1/2" holes drilled in the center bottom for "extra" air.
Daily ride has almost 100K on it now, and it will still run as fast as I need to go.
Go with the heated grips if you don't want to spend the money on the gloves. I ride 30 miles each way to work, from sea level to 1,800' and down to sea level, twice a day. I DO have heated gloves, and they make all the difference.
