This is to all you people in the southern states. By noon today most all the schools were closed due to the snow storm. At times I looked out the window and I can't see things 100 yards away. The mail lady delivered a package, 1/2 hour later her tire tracks were almost completely covered. 1/2 hr after that, NO sign she was ever here. This is suppossed to last through the night. Every once in a while I put some more wood in the wood stove and reach for another beer. This is GREAT. You southern guys..... who's laughing now !!!!!

The official word from our public works department is that our snowfall to date this winter has reached 4.20 metres. Yes, that is 13 ft 9 inches and "a wee bit". The undisturbed, settled snow in the middle of my backyard is now sitting at 5 feet deep. I can feel for you, red bandit!

We are setting a record here in Southwest Idaho. According to the weatherman, we have more snow than we have had for 4 previous years. I can't remember so much snow since the late 80's.

We set a new record high today with 80!! Normal temps for this time of year are in the 40's! But with this warm weather came some very severe storms for folks out west, hope no Xsives were involved!?

Yeah TC, the warm weather here (low 70's) was blamed for several tornados and generally nasty storms here in TN the last couple of days. Been ugly.

I'ts been raining a lot here last few weeks. My swamp is uber-murky now. Makes me look back on last summers drought with increasing happiness.

I used to live in Houston, many years ago. You guys that are having 70-80 deg. in February....YOU CAN HAVE IT !!!
Last night at 11Pm. all the schools were closed allready for today. I don't think that has ever happened... that I remember, course ICRS. There's a drift hanging off the garage roof about 18" long and 8' thick. Really looks cool. (no punn intended) They say we have about 73" so far this season which is about 1" more than normal for the yr. The season ain't over yet. I really do love a good snow storm. I'm serious. This is great.
It beats the heck out of those tornados some of you have been having. Stay safe.

Back in the 60's my dad and I used to back pack in the Sierras during spring and right before winter. Sometimes got caught in a snow storm and got run out. Snow falling can make for it's own kind of quiet ... very pleasant times. Especially since I was just “visiting” for a few days and not living in it.
I keep a link to a weather cam in Alaska. Reminds me why I only visit there in the fall and don't want to live there.

7:30 am here in New Orleans. Mardi Gras is just over and we are in to Lent (for those who do Lent). Not going to describe the beautiful sunshine and 60's we are having because some of you guys up North may send a hit squad down here for me.
